Reviews around music (5.00 of 5)

  • I love gaming first, but wanted a headphones that could play music beautifully as well.
  • I happen to prefer metal music (and lots of rock), but I really listen to lots of diverse genres as well, and nothing sounds bad through these MK3's at all
  • Hope springs eternal in the pursuit of excellent sounding music.
  • What I can tell you is that I chose this because most phones I researched could offer you either good music or good gaming, not both.
  • Mid-bass usually represents the meat of most instrumental music and drums..the MK3 handles it so, so well

Reviews around driver (5.00 of 5)

  • Super fast driver produces very clear instrument separation
  • , the drivers are fantastic, if a bit power-hungry, they aren't for Mobile devices unless you want to drain your battery in half an hour, they need power to be driven, for an audiophile and the serious listener
  • There are simply no dynamic driver headphones I've heard that can touch with these for under $300
  • It may be a "mid-fi" headphone, but the driver has outstanding capabilities as modders have revealed
  • Now my biggest problem is when the certain sounds go below 200 hertz which causes either the left or right driver to start buzzing through testing it

Reviews around experience (5.00 of 5)

  • I use them with AudioQuest DragonFly V1.2 on my Mac... just an awesome experience!
  • *can* likely power them, the experience will be MUCH better if you use a portable DAC/amp
  • The sound is very bass heavy - so if you like a more balanced listening experience, these are not for you
  • The right recording, of decent quality/bitrate, will lead to a perfectly refined bass experience
  • To my ears, and open headphone collection, they are unique, and I am enjoying the early experience

Reviews around soundstage (4.60 of 5)

  • Id give them a 9/10 on that, and value is definitely a 10/10 once you throw a new set of ear pads and have proper power, as these things can produce fantastic clarity, and an amazing soundstage
  • First off, the Soundstage is a bit narrow, not bad by any means, but not as spacious as my other two cans.
  • Most of my headphones are open, because I prefer the soundstage, but I wanted a good pair of closed cans for music listening at work
  • Id give them a 9/10 on that, and value is definitely a 10/10 once you throw a new set of ear pads and have proper power, as these things can produce fantastic clarity, and an amazing soundstage
  • n’t feel uncomfortable about the stock ear pads

Reviews around amp (4.41 of 5)

  • Need a good Headphone amp (some portable amps may not be able to drive them very loud either).
  • But beware, you will need an amp to drive these, its a MUST.
  • Nano dac/amp combo and would recommend a headphone amp.
  • Bring your best high power head amp though, you're not going to be able to get good sound on your portable device unless your portable is a Fiio X5 or equivalent, and even then something like the Schiit Audio Asgard II is a much better match
  • If you are in need of a cheap/great portable amp to power these, check out the SMSL sAp-7 amp, it provides enough power to produce good sounds out of them

Reviews around t50 (4.16 of 5)

  • First, I like both T40 and T50, I will keep them and I am waiting for the T20 to arrive
  • I would say T50 is closer to neutral character most audiophile prefer
  • T50 is leaner, clear, flatter and has a little wider airier sound stage with a softer but a little extended bass
  • n’t feel uncomfortable about the stock ear pads
  • I would recommend the T50 over T40 for the ever so slightly extra detail.

Reviews around comfort (4.13 of 5)

  • I enjoyed the sound quality although I may change the pads for a better comfort.
  • However, the comfort (while not too bad) needed improvement for me to really love the headphone.
  • As far as comfort, these aren't quite as nice as the DT770's velour pads, but they are lightweight and can be worn for hours without issue.
  • I think it improves comfort, but again, I don't think you have to do this
  • Well, all I can say is I'm in no big rush to change the stock earcups yet because I'm enjoying the sound and comfort of these headphones as they are!!

Reviews around bass (3.94 of 5)

  • The bass rattles these things like the license plate of a 1998 Honda Civic full of subwoofers.
  • Bordering on sibilant highs, slightly recessed mids, and nice clean planar bass.
  • The low bass can overwhelm in some songs or albums but that simply comes down to what happened in the studio, or the quality of the file
  • cheap cables .. and needed a lot of moddinggood quality sound but the BASS pretty little lacky
  • Clear and precise across frequency, with strong bass and highs

Reviews around pair (3.86 of 5)

  • He said there are better headphones available so save the money and get the better pair!
  • My pair are just slightly harder to drive than the T50s, so if you like it really loud, you might want to get something that isn't powered by
  • Since I didn't like the stock pad initially I bought myself a pair of
  • I haven't modded them yet (aside from changing out the earpads), but these are a great sounding pair of headphones, particularly when you increase the distance of the driver from your ear (one of the reasons to buy better pads)
  • but in the end these are a great pair of over-ear headphones

Reviews around clarity (3.78 of 5)

  • They are quite decent for vocals, but lack the pristine clarity of something like the 400i's
  • the rest of the frequency range has enough clarity but not much body
  • Superb clarity, top notch imaging with vocals and instruments, sound stage isn't wide but is just enough
  • n’t feel uncomfortable about the stock ear pads
  • For the MK3's the sound is definitely above average, great clarity, although certain frequency ranges give me issues

Reviews around quality (3.56 of 5)

  • As always, if you don't like bad quality wires, get a V-Moda cable
  • Also the build quality of this headphone is trash, it feels like a toy but at least it has a detachable cable (and comes with two cables)
  • I enjoyed the sound quality although I may change the pads for a better comfort.
  • Delivers great planar sound quality at an affordable price
  • The supplied cables are of poor quality and provide intermittent connections

Reviews around lock mechanism (2.18 of 5)

  • Also, the stock cable is terrible, the locking mechanism doesn't really work
  • That means a high dumping factor (>200) speaker amp delivering 50 Watt RMS into 8 OHMS s capable of driving loads down to 2 Ohms and then delivering 100 Watts
  • It's semi custom locking 3.5mm jack, and the locking mechanism can actually cause an issue with the connectivity
  • The locking mechanism it uses for it's cable isn't bad but it's just unneeded imo
  • I can definitely say that I love using them for gaming over all my other headsets (I have at least 5 other pairs), as well as for all sorts of music listening

Reviews around bite (1.29 of 5)

  • The bass response is a bit weak, and the treble too bright for my taste
  • I can think of is the soundstage itself lacks a bit of seperation
  • Only real negative other than being a bit uncomfortable for me out of the
  • (I fixed myself and knew that was going to be an issue); they seem a bit hard to drive
  • The Alpha Dog is super isolating and super detailed but lacks a bit of punch
