When you first open it and hold it in your hand, the thing feels like a solid chunk of metal that has some serious weight to it.
I figured, after reading many good things about this capo, that I might as well just stop wasting money on cheap capos and get something that will last
This thing works very well on the new guitar, allowing just the right amount of pressure to be applied
I decided to try this new version because a singer I follow online had some good things to say about hers.
It was up until it stopped releasing easily, the thing broke on me during a gig
In my research, the biggest complaint I saw was getting used to how tight to squeeze it to get a solid hold on any location on the neck
He said it was the best capo he's ever used, and did a demonstration with it on his Godin A Series
I would have given it 5 stars, but it has some difficulty with the low e string when used above the 7th fret on any of my guitars.
But I have always hated how tight they were (not to mention they're a real eyesore on your guitar) and I am no longer comfortable using them on my '94 Taylor 412RW
But......I didn't like it that much as it is pretty inefficient if used on the first fret.
I have bought other capos before but this really holds the notes where they should be at, unlike others that don't seem to apply enough pressure on strings.
Given that it's necessary to squeeze it "shut" or on by hand (as opposed to the clothes-pin design of the Kyser), it is possible to have insufficient pressure, resulting in buzz and rattle
It is infinitely adjustable and does not pressure the strings out of tune.
As others have noted it doesn't seem to apply enough pressure to the strings
The capo I had been using was putting WAY too much pressure on the strings, and greatly exacerbated the existing issue
I was quite impressed with both the ease of using it and how it didn't muddy the strings nor pull them out of tune
what i really like is that the padded material is very forgiving and holds the strings without any fret buzz and never damages my guitars.
Conclusion:If you are just a casual player that doesn't need the functionality of this capo, then you might want to hold your cash and buy a cheap capo and some strings or something
The variable pressure basically assures it goes on without bending your strings too hard and forcing them out of tune: a common problem I have with standard spring clamp style capos, especially on higher frets.
I felt that based on the design it had to be set to provide enough leverage to properly depress the bass strings
I haven't found any tuning or intonation problems when using it in this manner
I needed a new capo because the cheap Dunlop trigger capo I had been using was damaging the finish on my guitar's neck, as well as itself, with the spring grinding against the metal body
I LOVED the tone I was now getting, but the intonation problems were suddenly much worse
However, what i did see is that the G7th was as smooth and usable as it claims to be
It works well and minimized intonation problems and looks good too.
Personally, I hold it over the fret and squeeze slowly while strumming until there is no fret-buzz; this is in order to put miminal pressure on the strings
what i really like is that the padded material is very forgiving and holds the strings without any fret buzz and never damages my guitars.
Quick, one handed technique to change frets and clamps very securely over the string with no fret buzz
After reading the other reviews I was concerned I might get fret buzz with this, but I've used it several times on both my Martin acoustic (16" radius) and Fender Strat (9.5" radius), and didn't get any buzzing strings with either
NO buzzing, looks amazing - I would say definitely worth the seemingly premium price

Players loved the way that it kept the guitar in tune, but wanted it to be smaller and lighter, without compromising the tone
All that has been impossible until now: The new Performance 2 gives you the ultimate capo experience
Not only have we made it slimmer and lighter, but we have also reversed it's patented clutch mechanism, which gives it a lightning fast squeeze-on, squeeze-off action
It has also been designed to store behind the nut or on the peg head when not in use
