On a recent round, I used my Garmin as well as the cart GPS and I consistently preferred my new Garmin

And I have been currently using the GolfPad Pro app on my phone, which I really like.

Lots of great smartphone apps out there do the same thing, but I cant see my smartphone screen very well in bright daylight and i hate unlocking my phone constantly on the course.

But it is not as full-featured as a full-blown GPS or a good phone app.

Spoke with Garmin Support again on 4/11/17 and the tech states they have no ETA on the software update

After I tried everything I could, I contacted Garmin support (which was not easy to locate on the site).

Will contact Garmin Support, if they cannot fix remotely, I will be sending back this device

This is a pretty compact golf GPS.

I never had to reset for the correct hole (which often happens with cart GPS) and I always had instant read

This will give you distances to pins, how far to the green, see what the hole looks like and more

Battery life is great, my smartphone battery used to be done for the day after 4 hours of gps use, but this unit lasts for at least 10 hours on course.

I just wanted to iterate that the battery life on this GPS is great.

The new compact design allows you to mount it about anywhere, carry it on your belt or slip in in your pocket

Another reviewer complained about the belt clip, but I think its very well designed; the retention strength is just right, it makes a positive click sound when its seated completely, and the whole thing is smaller than old school pagers and MUCH lighter weight than hauling around a smartphone in your pocket.
