Reviews around thing (5.00 of 5)

  • This thing is very fast, accurate, easy to read and use
  • Love this thing so far as it had my course in Korea pre-loaded and now that I am back in the US, I will start golfing even more...if my clubs get here soon.

Reviews around golf (5.00 of 5)

  • Best purchase I have ever made, makes golf so much more fun knowing the yardage and not looking for sprinkler heads or guessing

Reviews around display (5.00 of 5)

  • The display is bright enough in the sun, and I like the sliding target bullseye that follows your finger, rather than lying underneath it, so you can see where you're dragging it to
  • The display is bright and easily seen in daylight (cloudless sky); 2) the touchscreen is very responsive and the sensitivity is comparable to a phone screen; 3) the features are very rich -- regular view, green view, touchpoint for layup, elevation adjustor, etc.; 4) the battery life is excellent -- played on a par 3 with a group taking 2 hours and had 88% battery left; on another occasion played 18 holes taking 3 hours and had 80% left.

  • Really helps shave strokes off my game because there is no more guess work as to what club to pull.

Reviews around work (5.00 of 5)

  • The G8 has worked great.
  • Garmin support told me how to do a reset..... that worked and the next rounds went without and problems
  • Work perfect, easy to use and helps shoot lower scores!

Reviews around help (5.00 of 5)

  • Background: I am 67; recently retired; getting back to golf after 30 years; little experience with tech products – no iPhone or iPad; no available knowledgeable help; seeking the “silver bullet” to lower my golf score
  • works great big help on golf course would purchase again

Reviews around gps (4.51 of 5)

  • Nice GPS but the scoring is a bit cumbersome and hard to use.
  • I am in the computer business and consider myself a rather techy kind of a guy and find this GPS a little clumsy to use and it fails a lot and locks a lot.

Reviews around product (4.30 of 5)

  • This appears to be an excellent, well manufactured and useful product.
  • Great product but the way to get the most out of it is to download and read the Garmin manual
  • I regard Garmin as a reputable company with good products
  • It's an ok product but not that great.
  • This is the worst product I have ever bought from garmin

Reviews around feature (4.08 of 5)

  • This feature is problematic from two perspectives.
  • That feature is a waste to me
  • I do love the features of this and especially the fact that you can see the entire hole, including water and bunkers and distances to each.
  • * Decent features to see where you want to lay up, distance to hazards, etc
  • Some nice features, like an optional choice to adjust shot distance for uphill/downhill shots

Reviews around unit (3.91 of 5)

  • I'm wondering if I have a defective unit in that respect
  • You may as well buy a more basic and less expensive unit!Non existent product support: I took the time to report the problem, but never received any acknowledgement or response from them!Hugely irritating: that it doesn't automatically sequence from hole 18 to hole 1 - for shotgun starts when you don't start on hole 1
  • The unit functions very well and has many useful features.

Reviews around device (3.84 of 5)

  • After all of that...I would still recommend this device as the best available
  • I would prefer for the hole diagrams to be a little larger and show a little more hole detail sometimes, but overall it is a very nice device, works well and pretty user friendly, easy to learn to use
  • I would prefer for the hole diagrams to be a little larger and show a little more hole detail sometimes, but overall it is a very nice device, works well and pretty user friendly, easy to learn to use
  • Unfortunately I find the device to be absolutely useless as a score-keeping device
  • (I bought this device so that I would limit the data usage on my phone)4

Reviews around garmin (3.75 of 5)

  • so Garmin really loses credibility here
  • Really helps shave strokes off my game because there is no more guess work as to what club to pull.
  • I regard Garmin as a reputable company with good products
  • The SkyCaddie SG5 that I still own and used for 2-3 years works well and shows slightly more hole detail, but the Garmin is probably a little more user friendly overall by allowing you to choose your target spot you wish to hit to, and also does not require the annual renewal fees to view courses on the device
  • Love this thing so far as it had my course in Korea pre-loaded and now that I am back in the US, I will start golfing even more...if my clubs get here soon.

Reviews around screen (3.70 of 5)

  • is why the yardage is so far off, the screen is nice and big and easy to see even in the sun battery life is good the history of the game you just played is nice gives you all the info of the game you just played so to round things up is way to much money for what you get hope that garmin will get an update to fix the short comings
  • I didn't give it 5 stars as I think it would be nice for the screen to stay bright longer.
  • The screen is much easier to read in bright sunlight than the Golf Buddy World Platinum I have been using for the past three years.
  • You have to lock it to play a round without it jumping to unwanted screens every time you just brush the screen
  • The fact that you can measure your shots and the bright screen even in sunlight

Reviews around design (3.22 of 5)

  • Good product, well designed, easy to use
  • Last but no least is the defective design of the belt clip
  • Love the compact design and it lives up to name

Reviews around shot (1.44 of 5)

  • Also like how you can teach it how far your shots go with different clubs and it recommends the club to use
  • Also, no blind shots on the courses I play so no use for the directional feature
