This mounting system for the Garmin Edge GPS for bicycle seems to be a more reliable model than the one that came with my device.

This older model is just not a very good design way too delicate.

As for as plastic holders go this gadget is great and you can use this vertical or horizontaly

The mount arrived in perfect conditions and it is an original Garmin Product

Got three of these -- at a very good unit price from Amazon -- so I could quickly move my Garmin Edge 705 from bike to bike

I have a polar HR that does just fine, similarly priced

Ordered through Amazon because their price for the same item from Garmin was way way cheaper

That may be why they also have a new design, but I can't afford a new computer for the bike

If the only way to secure a very expensive computer to a bicycle is with a cheap piece of (overpriced) plastic, then the computer should at least come with a short tether, so it doesn't get lost when the plastic attachment unit inevitably breaks.

When cycling with the unit mounted to the bracket it is also wise to wrap a rubber band around the unit and the handlebars so that when the bracket fails, you won't lose the computer too.

But I do have a mount on each of my bikes, I love the computer

After 7 years of use on a Garmin Edge 705 my mount broke

Eventually that piece broke off my previous mount, but not before I got plenty of use out of it.

If used the way it is designed to be used, the mount will not break.

My original mount, after lasting about 2 years riding at least twice a week on mountain bike trails, finally broke and this was the replacement that I purchased.

The fit with the Garmin is as good as the factory mount that came with the Garmin.

The tab that holds the unit in place is so fragile that a little bumping will break it off
