Battery life and sometimes the compass isn’t accurate

Battery life isn't the greatest on alkaline batteries if you keep it on all the time, so I'd suggest using lithium ion batteries if will be in areas with no access to power, or rechargable batteries if you're a weekend camper/hiker.
