We purchased this Garmin at Best Buy to replace an old one with a bad battery while we were on a trip fully expecting to be able to purchase another Waalace and Grommit voice for it
I’ve recently bought one directly from Best Buy and it works well.
For the first one, the identical model, it was a mistake to buy it at Best Buy.
I had read that the batteries don't last, but it turned out to be the cable, not covered by warranty but only $13 at Best Buy
I would highly recommend this version, it was $99, that was less than in stores like Best Buy.

The larger size is nice but not necessarily good when traveling.
Overall, I will still use this unit for all my long trips due to the nice sized map, clear directions, the ability to start a new navigation while driving, and the above mentioned items.
The screen is a decent size, and I like that it shows decent images of exits to get of as well, especially since sometimes directions that the GPS repeats can be difficult to understand when driving, so being able to glance at the image briefly is helpful.
I like the larger size of this gps over my older nuvi 205w.
I like the size of the screen and how easy it is to type in information, the touch screen works great, much better than my old GPS.

I have wants 45 dollars to update once and doesnt work at all , it make not want to buy this brand again since thats sleazy but they all are greedy wanting more for less , this one comes with free updates so you dont get ripped off later like the old ones like the ones I threw away

their maps are UNABLE to distinguish between roads and ATV trails
I've had the old nuvi 255 and it worked great but did not come with free map
I got it for the free life time maps, but the garmin i bought in 2007 for $100 was much better
I purchased it because it comes with free map updates for a reasonable price.
Navigation instructions are clear and the map looks intuitive (I hate the map on my older Michelin which displays a divided road as two thin separate roads in parallel and there is a huge space between them )

It guided me on unfamiliar roads like a champ, changed route when I changed direction & only lost signal once when I was literally in a long underground tunnel, resumed right back up when the tunnel ended.
The traffic info came i handy as it would let you know if there was an accident or roadwork ahead causing delays.
Further, the device does not update your current location on the map as fast as it should be, which gives a chance for missing a turn or an exit
I also like the fact it gets me out of large, confusing parking lots and get me on the right road
My elderly aunt wanted this brand, and it is NOT user friendly, doesn't offer bypass routes, and simply didn't work as it said

I had no such problem, the battery works as it should and lasts a very long time (haven't tested it to see exactly how long, one of these days I will try just to see), although obviously if you're going on a long trip it's probably better to just keep it plugged in if you can

I get annoyed because of the constant errors, and then when you go to hit the X to erase the wrong letter, the go key is right under
After about the 25th time hitting backspace because it punched the wrong letter in I'd had enough

I received the 1st one on June 1st and within days it was telling me that I had the wrong cord
I'm pretty sure that I was given the wrong cord because my GPS won't connect to traffic
Very poor design; you MUST use the special cord that comes with this unit, as it does not work with a standard 5vdc USB cord.
Garmin is propagating a serious flaw in its embedded software, after a "lifetime" update you go back to your car and find "incompatible power cord" and so now your traffic no longer works, whereas, five minutes before, before the SW update, the traffic was working fine.

I would have no idea what the model and model number were.
I purchased most certainly does NOT have the model number nor the serial number anywhere on the OUTSIDE of the unit.
And what kind of morons do not imprint the model number or the serial number on the unit?
So, if it fails and you have not registered the unit with Garmin nor noted the model number and S/N somewhere, you are stuck with zero product support.
