With this unit you have access to standard Alexa voice commands such as music controls, podcasts, shopping commands and smart home devices

Now I can control my smart home while pulling out or in to my driveway.

Alexa response that's every bit as fast as my home devices, able to listen to playlists, get directions, and control home smart devices via Alexa

I really like the concept and how the navigation is represented by the arrows and distance inside the blue ring of light.

I really want this product to work because I love the concept, but unless this bug is resolved quickly with a firmware update along with support for Spotify (or at least an announcement support is coming), the Garmin Speak will be going back.

So to sum it all up, this isa device I was very eager to purchase as I loved the concept, but it turns out to be a complete waste of money

Lane departure warnings could use some work, as it often alerts when moving to one side with much greater sensitivity than the other, and only works if there is enough contrast between the lines and the road such that depending on the road, weather, and/or lighting conditions, it may not work at all

The front collision works well, video footage is acceptable, audio recording is acceptable, Alexa basic features work well

Like any device sometimes there is poor data connection but works when try again

While this works great at home with a nice wide, fast and stable broadband connection this fails with the realities of LTE in everyday use

With all that in mind, I have a good data plan, a newer smart phone, and a car with SYNC services, and for me the Garmin Speak works very well

just overall I feel like I could have gotten a better camera and used the Alexa that is plugs into car via Bluetooth.

I love the idea of having Alexa in my car, but I think the implementation on this Garmin Speak may be too-early, or too-limited for me to fully enjoy all that Alexa can be in my car.

The display is crisp but not blinding at night and the turn-by-turn directions are very good

The unit is also seemingly confused by the Bluetooth connection between my phone and car- an easily foreseeable issue that should have been addressed before springing this underdone tech on an unsuspecting public

The phone works fine with the car alone (using either Bluetooth or USB/Lightning)

It also was discovered that her phone was incompatible w/this device, prompting her to buy a new phone (she really wanted a new phone anyway)..

The thing is, every part of the unit works great, when it decides that it wants to work.

Once going, it is near impossible short of unplugging the thing to stop the navigation.

The Speak requires that you have the app open in the background at all times, not an ideal solution but honestly not the worst thing in the world, the Speak itself will notify you if the app is not open

I quickly switched to Google Maps on my phone for correct directions

I verified with my phones GPS and Maps that it thinks that I am in the correct location and gives proper directions

Driving back to my house about 25 miles away, I have no idea where it wanted me to go as it insisted I was going in the wrong direction.

The directions are clear, and update quickly if i miss a turn.

Always giving me errors like poor data connection or app not open neither of which are true

The App must be open, phone unlocked and a good Internet connection for this to work at all

While the device is starting up it might complain that you have a poor data connection

Unless you have a strong connection on your phone 3 bars minimum, it will not work correctly.

The only issue is a few times it has said phone had a poor data connection but would usually work on the next try

As for music, Spotify is a weird experience but no biggie

If you’re used to using Alexa in your house a lot, then this device makes for a seamless (mostly) experience between house and car

Like the camera recording all the time as I use this in a work truck.seems people like to call in and complain on the drivers just because they had a bad experience with the company

Hoping some software tweaks will help improve the experience from here on out

My experience with the Garmin Speak seems to have been better than some others, and I suspect it makes a difference whether you have a car with Bluetooth features built on (like Ford's SYNC technology) or if you need to use an auxiliary connection

I received mine free for a honest review and if I would have bought it, I would have returned it.

Highly recommend this product people who are giving bad reviews on this don't know what they're talking about

And it beeps and dings in strange ways like when you begin to go over the speed limit

I wish that I didn't have to say "Ask Garmin" every time I wanted to cancel the route or ask for the speed limit

If you hover around the speed limit, this device beeps like crazy

I do wish that there would be a warning if speed limit is exceeded though, as it does not seem that difficult to integrate.

This was released with major connectivity issues and half-baked software

because I bought it so early I missed the return window

I missed the return window by 6 days; I am deeply disappointed in both Amazon and Garmin--Amazon for only allowing 30 days returns, and Garmin's software engineers for programming in such a miserable, annoying misfeature.
