Reviews around fretless (5.00 of 5)

  • This A5 gives me a very nice acoustic bass tone, not full on acoustic tone, more a very nice fretless, woody tone.

Reviews around electric (5.00 of 5)

  • It _does_ have an acoustic pickup, as well as electric; there _is_ a resonance chamber (the sound hole is visible above the neck on the body in the picture); and you can mix the electric and acoustic outputs as you see it, onboard the instrument itself
  • But it's not a pure electric, either

Reviews around trad (5.00 of 5)

  • This is an instrument that is informed less by metal or rock and more by a modern trad sensibility - and the trad of eastern Canada specifically

Reviews around suit (5.00 of 5)

  • It's not well suited for very loud situations, since the strings and top tend to feed back easily at high volume
  • The piezo/magnetic pickup combination is flexible and well-suited to the instrument (I can't comment on the synth interface since I haven't tried it)

Reviews around bass (2.54 of 5)

  • This A5 gives me a very nice acoustic bass tone, not full on acoustic tone, more a very nice fretless, woody tone.
  • Until then, I'd been mostly playing a 1962 Klira fiddle hollow-body bass, which I'd in fact made playable after it had been stored improperly for a long time
  • It was about 7 bills, nice bass, good tone.
  • My only complaint, aside from the feedback, is the need for a string retainer at the headstock for the low B string, which rattled a bit when played open until I added a retainer
