Gran Turismo 6
From the Manufacturer
The next stage in the evolution of the world's most popular and comprehensive racing simulator is upon us. Gran Turismo 6, the latest installment in th...
This game is as fun as one would expect from the best driving simulator in gaming.
If this truly is the best simulator game, you should be able to tune all aspects of all vehicles
At first it may seem similar to GT5 with a slight lean of the cars as they turn and tumble
Given all of this, and given that the game is still very, very good at doing what is does best (an entertaining driving simulator), I will still give it 4 stars.
This is however the best racing simulator one can get for the PS3
Price was reasonable and as always, shipping was right on time.
Is good game but not so real like forza motor sport 6 field like playing play station 1 crash and don't demange at all not bad for a good price
Good price of $15 might be temporary but even at $30 get this, play it
almost impossible to purchase cars at ridiculous price of millions of dollars and can only win about 15 to 50 thousand dollars during the game with each event win
The prices for older cars are competitive for the most part, unless it's a car that suffers from being a 'classic' and is worth more than it's PP stat
However, and I'm not going to go into a huge in depth review, but Polyphony did not address the main concerns of so many die hard Turismo fans
That being said, if money is tight for you, stick to Grand Turismo 5
Grand turismo needs some new tricks
grand turismo 6 just feels like an old game since it does not have many of the new model cars
The challenges and career modes are the same and being so similar to Grand Turismo 5, it's a shame we can't import our cars from the previous game to this one
There have been some complaints about micro-transactions (ie paying for content) but you can earn your rewards the hard way, though it's going to take a lot of grinding for the top-of-the-line cars
The oddest problem with their behaviour is the way one or two often dash off at the start into a 12-second lead then appear to wait for you to catch up on the last lap
At first it may seem similar to GT5 with a slight lean of the cars as they turn and tumble
Like in real driving training, you start slow, learn the principles and work your way up.
Previous games had WAY too many prize cars, you were swimming in them.
Buy a go cart (in the game), go crazy driving around, laugh like crazy when watching your cart fly around in the replays.
The very first lap at Bathurst, I flipped the car twice (once due to bad driving, and once from the suspension bug), and ran off the road due to not knowing where the road was going, and was 26 seconds behind much faster cars
They make you pass all of the ridiculous driving tests again
BUT only if you're all about having the most realistic driving experience possible
She wouldnt enjoy the games I have on the hard drive now so thats why I bought her this Gran Turismo racing game
I love the GT series and have several of their games, but I can't recommend this one
However, whenever a new Gran Turismo comes out, I always give it a checking out because what the series offers scratches that arcade race
I can see why GT6 offers this, as not everyone has time, but it stands to upset the series as you can imagine the guy who put the time into the game going online and now everyone has thes same car they worked 40 hours to achieve enough credits to buy.
I love the series and they did a better job this time around with the physics
I love the GT series and this one continues to impress with excellent graphics, physics, and game play
Then there's the stupid choice of cars to include - all sorts of pointless little hatches and buzz boxes wasting space when there could be so many amazing cars that weren't included
I tend to have occasionally while making me feel like I have a legitimate impact on the cars I use if I so choose, as well as giving you complete freedom on how you progress (such as staggering the license tests with the racing categories, or getting all the licenses up front and letting you pick and choose your races from
The menu system has been changed for the better and maybe loading times have been improved a
Anyway, that was a frustrating waste of 100K.The other thing that annoyed the heck out of
At first it may seem similar to GT5 with a slight lean of the cars as they turn and tumble
I like this a lot, since you don't only have your own ghost car but also the computer that you need to beat racing as fast as you are
There's actual challenge in this game, and the Coffee Break events are fun
Plus driving some of the really fast cars (Pagani, Ferrari) is no where near as fun or exciting as it should be
I tend to have occasionally while making me feel like I have a legitimate impact on the cars I use if I so choose, as well as giving you complete freedom on how you progress (such as staggering the license tests with the racing categories, or getting all the licenses up front and letting you pick and choose your races from
Don't get rewarded with a car after each event win as always before
I had issues with Online play on the PS3, i downloaded and installed the update like 10 times and it still never let me get past the loading screen
After spending basically a day trying to download the excruciating 22 updates one by one since the download functionality doesn't work right, then get in the game, and can't even race.
Basically, you're just splitting up the large updates so the game has an easier time unpacking them
After update 1.07 the install will fail and the game will go in a infinite loop of failing trying to install
I like this a lot, since you don't only have your own ghost car but also the computer that you need to beat racing as fast as you are
There are odd graphical problems like texture "baking" where bad aliasing causes lines and objects in the distance to shimmer like you're seeing them in a desert heat
Online multiplayer remedies these problems by making these actual options, but unfortunately the single player has no such options
The oddest problem with their behaviour is the way one or two often dash off at the start into a 12-second lead then appear to wait for you to catch up on the last lap
Barely any prize cars left, no b-spec winnings opportunity, no used car dealership
I think that I've only won 5 or 6 cars with the International "B" licence and all golds, so that is another broken feature
You have to learn how to handle a car with cold tires and how to adjust to different compounds
Realistic behaving tires are fine and good, but it is NO FUN to be forced to drive on lame tires while trying to catch up to cars that were a half a lap ahead of you, when the race began.
- slightly better sounds (tires, helps with knowing how hard you are pushing the car) - more tracks - a few new cars (not all are amazing as they lead) - better lighting in game - more custimizations (wheels) - better menu - so far the online races, aren't races, but rather single player time trial with friend lines
One example: in GT5, the 'racing soft' tires were more 'grippy', which turned some of the 60's muscle cars into super-responsive drivers, taking corners on 2 wheels
Apparently they really wanted to showcase how totally lame, totally lame tires function
The sound for the cars still lacks quality, but the varieties of tacks and cars make up for it
Its a competent game with the selection of cars and tracks, but some of the details of certain cars falls short (lack of interior views, lack of accurate engine/exhaust sounds, and some cars you can actually see rough pixelation on some lines) especially in comparison to the next-gen games on the horizon
There has been sound improvements as well (when you get hit, exhaust sounds
Going from forza to Gran turismo is a shock at first because the cars sound so bad
If they bump up the graphics, fix the sounds, and let you drive more cars without playing for thousands of hours, then it will be a great game
Almost no physical damage can be seen when you crash or hit something, and the damage does not effect gameplay, something I was hoping for but unfortunately doesn't appear in the game
With post-race confetti sparkles (a cheap effect, but I like it), harmony guitar fanfares when you win, and some stylish presentation, it feels like a video game again
Too bad the sound effects, especially of the crashes, is somewhat lacking.. giving the "refrigerator clunk thud" for every type of accident.
It will be better if they add better sound effects when crashing, and 3D backgrounds (trees, mountains, houses and people) instead of the 2D backgrounds that we already have.
With post-race confetti sparkles (a cheap effect, but I like it), harmony guitar fanfares when you win, and some stylish presentation, it feels like a video game again
noises: as many others have stated, engine noises are not very good
The tire squeal is WAAAAY too loud, the engine noises (that were a highlight of the GT5
noises: as many others have stated, engine noises are not very good
Their are a few bad things like the engine noise is pretty generic and the lack of flags apart from the new checkered flag at the end are unrealistic but overall they don't detract from the experience.
This is too bad, because great car engine noises truly contribute to make a racing game thrilling and exciting
It is a great game that meets the expectations I had of Gran Turismo, graphics improvements, more cars, improvements in simulation performance, but like any game is not perfect, to this being a race simulator would have to approach the more realistic example : series reference duration 24 hours of le mans and just do 24 minutes which makes your tires wear out much faster and be a tedious and difficult process to get pix every 3 laps the car loses-adhesion
And if you do interrupt the update process, it will start the process all over again.
It won't let me!!!There are a ridiculous amount of updates and an archaic update process!
After several hours and a cumbersome process it WILL work eventually.
If you're into pain, just follow the easy 17 step process illustrated below:http://community.us.playstation.com/t5/Gran-Turismo-Series-General/Recommended-
it's not too much of a loss, but man would I be mad if I spent $59.99 when this game first came out, really terrible developer.
I'm not making this up by the way, this is how awful the developers are with this game
There are only two reasons I can think of for this decision: 1) The developer got sick of complaints of idiots buying useless, golf-cart-like cars with their initial credits, that they decided to force you to buy a car that will guarantee the ability to win your first few races, and 2)Honda dished out a bunch of money to make it happen
Would it seriously kill a developer just to give me what I want right from the start?

Waited for the price to drop down and have been worried due to some of the prior negative comments.
This is an amazing game, I don't think there's any other racing game on this level on PS3, or even on PC.I personally disregard the hateful comments on this game, I think it comes from people without patience
