I've too have had reasonably good luck with this unit so far.
(Black)I've actually had pretty good luck with this unit so far.
In fact, I (foolishly) bought two, one for me and one for my wife to use in her car, because I've always had pretty good luck with Griffin products
I've been a fan of most Griffin products and enthusiastically purchased this product for my iPhone after having pretty good luck with my original iTrip for my iPod
Play around with it and good luck!!The Scan doesnt really work

The reception is great as well very clear and works perfectly with my ipod.
I've switched back to my Monster Cable product and get static free reception all over the greater Rochester area on 88.1 (albeit without RDS functionality)
I've switched back to my Monster Cable product and get static free reception all over the greater Rochester area on 88.1 (albeit without RDS functionality)
The reception was strong and the volume was good for an FM transmitter.
When it did work, the reception was fine if that means anything.
The charges does its job very well and the controls on the cigarette lighter connector work well
Likes are the lighter plug with fwd, back and play/pause buttons, and my iphone charges during playback
My 4G doesn't support RDS.
Go with Satechi Bluetooth Hands-free Car Stereo Fm Transmitter for iPhone 3Gs & 3G and Bluetooth Stereo A2DP supported Devices and don't waste your time or money on the Griffin as I did.
The charges does its job very well and the controls on the cigarette lighter connector work well
One minor omission is this only works with 30-pin iPods and iPhone, so it does not work with any other MP3 players, which makes its price even a bit more absurd for those families (like mine) that have different brands of MP3 players
I have taken the AutoPilot on trips around Boston, around Seekonk, MA, and around and in Providence, and it's been working really well.
I ended up giving the new one to my son to use with the touch and he reports that it is working well and reliably, since there is no way to stream pandora or radio in the car without a wifi connection
Even when I manually entered clean stations that had worked well on my old Kensington (which isn't iPhone compatible), the signal was so noisy that it rendered it unusable.
Controller on 12 volt plug works well to change songs and allows you to put the phone away.3
It can't even overpower dead/empty frequencies consistently
It can't even overpower dead/empty frequencies consistently
Not only did it fail to automatically find any available vacant frequency as advertised, it consistently was unable to use even those vacant frequencies to which it was manually set
After a few seconds, the control unit will revert back to the main screen (showing the frequency).
Even when they do work, the signals are very static-y and will go out if you drive under a bridge or are ordering drive through at a fast good restaurant
I did have this same unit before with my Jeep Liberty and it didn't work at all.
I previously owned a model by Belkin, which worked reasonably well (with a couple slight advantages), but the unit was fried when I had some battery work done on my truck--it never worked after that.
On that station, with Smart Sound and Stereo options enabled, I think this unit sounds really good.
Maybe other makes of autos will produce better results, but this unit, in an RX-400h is totally unsatisfactory
Unfortunately, this unit is not capable of performing as advertised
The display numbers are very clear to see, even during the day and the buttons are easy to press without any issues
I selected and held down the <Mode> button for several seconds (it was the right button for me).
Then, press and hold the right button (which will say "Mode" above it) for about 5 seconds.
While still holding right button press and hold preset middle button and release middle button and the right button at the same time
In addition to the faulty display, the buttons on the unit were cheap and wouldn't push down, so I couldn't perform any sort of reboot or diagnostics on the unit to try and get the display to work
Picked this up to replace an old Monster FM transmitter/charger when I got an iPhone 3G.
This version of the Griffin works well: charges the iPhone 3G, the remote skip/play buttons on the charger are great, and the transmitter seems more powerful/effective than the Monster
I will concede that the charger works fine, but the transmitter is beyond garbage.
Whether the unit even works as an FM transmitter for your iPod, I can't say since I couldn't use the unit without its display
Would somebody PLEASE make a halfway decent FM transmitter for the iPhone 3g!
I generally do not write reviews, but this product is so lame from a company that has in the past produced such great products that I am shocked
I just purchased the Griffin iTrip AutoPilot and it is really a fantastic product, I had reviewed it prior to purchase but never expected it to be this good
The product is good with feature of playing, stopping, FF and Rewind on the knob itself
All in all, this is a good product that does what it says it will.
Save your money and wait for another company to produce an RDS compatible product
So in closing, I had to choose between being able to have full control over my ipod and having bad sound quality, or having very little control over the ipod and have excellent sound quality
The volume fluctuates erratically and sound quality is not good
Terrible sound quality, I could not find a frequency that did not have tons of static (nor could I unlock the "Easter Egg" hidden frequency).
Bottom line, neat idea but this one in particular is poor quality.
The frequency response is limited, so it will not sound as good as a low quality .mp3.
Before, it was impossible (and dangerous) to fumble with the iPhone's touch screen to switch songs, etc. while driving.
Hang onto the cord while driving to get nominal sound isn't what I thought I bought
It works, however I consistently need to change frequencies because stations break through as I am driving
