The others advertise gel coverings and "sticky" surfaces, but they all fail.

These work as advertised: they certainly improve the grip on a DualShock 4; however; I'm knocking them down a star because over a few months they seem to get less grippy.

This is very crucial in fps games where you need high sensitivity to aim to the left or right as fast as you can

they work but the ends are a bit frayed, and they don't quite "hold on" the stick as well as I'd like it to

I am using the original black Xbox 360 controller, and it is not the one with the improved D-pad
