Unfortunately, the thermostat does not allow static IP addresses

In order to forward that port, a static IP address is required

If you get this at least protect your privacy, use a fake name and address.

I would have liked to have the option to assign a Static IP address to it, but not really a big deal in a residential setting

I can now adjust temperature and settings while outside the home as well as when I'm feeling lazy on the couch
