It doesn't have all of the bells and whistles of a "smart house" thermostat, but if you have wifi and a smartphone, its all you need to control your HVAC from your bed or around the globe.

Clearly this was undesirable if you want your house to be comfortable.

When the wife is getting upset the house is too cold, I can simply turn around pick up my phone and adjust the temp to her liking

WE activate prior to our 2 -1/2 hour drive from the car and when we arrive the house is comfy :)

My house had dropped down to 40 degrees, but I was able to turn up the heat to warm the house back up, then turn it back down to 50 while I was away, all using the app on my phone.

Instead, the system showed on the screen that it was set to keep the house 80 degrees COOL, and remained ON for days, but it instead heated the house to 107 degrees.

I am traveling 230 miles to home in the morning, when I am about an hour out I will release the hold and by the time I get home, the house will be right at 70 degrees

I can adjust it a few hours before I leave work and the house is nice a cozy when I get home

We turn on the AC/heat on our way home from a trip so the house is cool or warm when we get there.

bought the Amazon Alexa in January, and after setting the thermostat to work with Alexa, you simply have to tell her "Alexa, cool the house by 2 degrees

so when I get home, the house is ready.

Great toy and will come in great when we go away on vacation and want to come home to a warm or cold house, depending on the season.

Now I can cool down the house in summer or heat it up in the winter before we get there.

Half of the reason I got this is to be able to warm up my house before coming home from a long weekend when the temperature was kept low to save energy.

We check the Temperature now and then when we are gone to see how well our house is actually insulated

If you want the house to be cooled down by the time you get home, log into the app and turn the temp down

I can imagine it'll be even better when its hot outside and we need to cool down our house upon returning from a trip.
