For 3d fighters built for a modern controller this is unnecessary but if you intend to play modern 2d fighting games that assume serious players have either a stick or a pad, I haven't found one better
The best fighting controller I had in a very long time and the easiest to instal
Other than that, this controller is what u need for fighting games like Street Fighter.

That said, the real selling point to this controller is how well-suited it is to modern fighting games by default
I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a good product.
My fingers hurt after a while on this... but this is definitely a cool product

This product is perfect for pad players who didn't care much for the design of the previous HORI Fighting Commander.
The feel of this product is great when intended however given the track record of HORI's products now I can not rationally recommend a product or company that from my experience often fails to deliver what they advertised

I purchased it for use on PC fighting games, mostly Guilty Gear but other games as well like Melty Blood and the King of Fighters games on Steam, as well as emulated MAME fighting games.
That said, the real selling point to this controller is how well-suited it is to modern fighting games by default
I use it for both fighting games and classic game emulation
No lag on PS4 nor PC (I use it mainly for PC) as well as other fighting games like Tekken 7 and Dead or Alive
And it's a shame because this actually felt like the best controller I've ever used

I have been using fightpads for 10+ years and this is the best fight pad I have ever used, I love the feel and versatility it offers with working with multiple consoles.
I still haven't mastered using pad as I've been using Hitbox and before that stick for a while
A lil bulky and the DPad is not as responsive as I'd like

However, this one has a slightly stiffer dpad (some people might prefer the softer dpad, I guess) and native pc support with correct button mapping--the Hori FC4 has the main four face buttons

The connected D-Pad is a lot better than the disconnected PS4 one and makes quarter circle or half circle inputs easier for people who might have trouble with them
Hence charge motions are also a lot harder to get right and many times I simply miss the input
but that was from doing some hard directional inputs.
you can link a medium into yoga flame with dhalsim on the right side quite consistently but practically impossible to do it consistently on the left due to some strange sensitivity ends up having dead inputs a lot
It won't make you better, but it makes some inputs a lot easier

The most glaring room for improvement would be a touchpad button for use with PS4; however, at this time, this does not hinder the player as the pad can complete all in game actions including menu navigation in fighting games like Street Fighter V, Mortal Kombat X, and Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator-
If you play games like Guilty Gear, Blazblue, Marvel, or Skullgirls, Instant Air Dashes become a lot easier since you're always going to hit up-forward instead of accidentally just hitting up
the turbo works as it should as does everything else the very fact that I'm able to turn the d-pad at a certain degree is also really awesome
I have never been a fighting stick guy and have always preferred a good pad, especially when Guilty Gear is involved.
