Some informal testing suggests a minimum of 70dB in order for the hotword to take even in a quiet (~40dB) room, while a much quieter voice is sufficient for whatever command follows “Ok Google”
-
I also have the red tint screen issue which isn't USUALLY a big deal, save for in dark rooms
-
I've checked for the 'dim red glow' others have described, and sure, I can see it if I really look for it -- in a dark dark room while scrutinizing the display, but I simply don't understand the big deal.
-
It's loudness can also be a bit of a distraction if you're in a quiet room
-
I did not want a flashlight on my wrist in dark rooms
-
I don't know if my watch is defective but, if I'm doing anything other than sitting in a quiet room, I can't feel my watch vibrate when a notification comes in
-
The only remaining defect is that the screen doesn't really have a true black, and in a very dark room you can see a faint red glow in the black areas unless the watch screen is fully off (such as when you double-press the crown to put it in "Theater Mode")
-
Since its an amoled screen, the black disappear in dark rooms and the hands/numbers only show up.
-
Red tint on the watch's face can easily be seen in dark room with acclimated eyes
-
I came from a LG G watch R & there is no such issue there at all

I've been seriously impressed by the Huawei Smart Watch, particularly because I knew them from years ago as the cheap-o Chinese manufacturer making poor tablets and smart phones.
