My case is easy on and easy off, still an annoyance
-
The lightning charging port doesn't fit most iPhones with cases; like another user recommended, I had to cut an inexpensive case to get it to
-
It is also useless with an iPhone with almost any protective case (except for the cheap Apple one with a completely open bottom.)
-
I tried to find this product in store first to test out whether or not you can charge the iPhone 6 with a simple clear plastic case on it (my friend and I have the same phone cases)
-
It wasn't a big deal, as the case is an inexpensive one and it still adequately protects my phone.
-
Very slender cases will work as is but for cases with some girth and heft you will need an adapter
-
One issue is that not all cases work great with the Lightning adapter, namely Otterbox
-
The design is not very well thought out because I would say MOST people have a protective case on their phone
-
I mangled my wife's very nice Otter case trying to make her iPhone work with the iHome and it still won't sit on the charger.
-
With the protective case on my phone I could not put the phone on the charger , so I had to cut the bottom of the cover in order for the phone to charge properly

The iPhone 6 with vaja Top Flip iPhone 6 case can easily be attached using the Lightening Connector on top of the radio.

I have an excellent Tech 21 case & I must remove
