Plugged the wifi adapter into the USB 3.0 port of my Dell T5500, installed the driver software and lo, I have wifi on my desktop, works very well.

My real disappointment is that I thought with the advertised 5db antenna gain that I would get a stronger signal from weak hot spots than I do with my 4 year old laptop's internal wifi.
