the mixer had alot of noise coming through, but this little guy is amazing and for such an amazing low price

Totally worth the price and definitely something that podcasters and online radio show hosts can benefit from because of the quality.

The box exterior feels better than the standard cheap-o plastic as it will probably get warm with extended use

this works great for condensed or ribbon mics if you need phantom

This works great for powering my (non-usb) microphone when I use my laptop

my mic worked great with out this device..and is absolutely phenomenal with it.

Great it works... the light for power is blinding but black tape fixed that.

If you need to boost your mic or power your concensor 3.5mm its a no brainer.

My mic would also work when I put it just straight into the computer

Needed a phantom power supply to power my new mic this works perfectly.

Either get a dynamic mic (as I did) or pay for a quality preamp or mixer (depending on your needs) which provides phantom power.

but my mic sounds like an expensive mic.

Note that this was supplied for sampling purposes and it has worked out great so far

I initially gave this 2 stars because I loved this power supply but in less than 2 months of use, the blue power LED is no longer solid but blinking and no longer provides power to my condenser mic

Does the job, but I'd go the the expensive power supply for the expensive equipment.

This probably is a good starter power supply for xlr mics, it just didn't work out for me

It was working perfectly fine until a few moments later it wouldn't turn on anymore D:

Upon further inspection the blue light would turn on for a couple milli seconds (No exaggeration) and it would turn right off

The blue light started to blink and the product doesn't work anymore

Once those were connected, I connected the AC power adaptor to it, pressed the power button, waited for the blue LED light to turn on, and I was good to go

Had the box for about 3 months before I moved to a new location, after which the box crapped out completely and the LED light wouldn't turn on

The replacement unit has so far worked without failure for the past three weeks, and I've yet to experience any malfunction or issues as of the writing of this addendum.

This was the short version, here the long one:the reason for many of the problems is a basic misunderstanding of the conception of a balanced circuit: the output of this device is BALANCED, thus the plus/minus poles are 180° phase inverted relative to another, if you connect this 3,5mm plug to a NORMAL unbalanced laptop/soundcard input it will either not work at all (as in my case) or it will be catastrophically full of noise since of course a normal input does not 'substract' the two pole signals, that is performs anther 180° rotation on one of them

The product works fine, However as advertised I was supposed to receive the 3 pin xlr connector as a bonus for purchasing this

Worked for about a year until the LED power light stopped working about 6 months of using, once that died out, microphone became much lesser quality

and I get the best quality when gaming and chatting online

To the positive part of the review, it worked amazingly before it messed up, the sound quality was nice and crisp, no issues with the audio capturing from the microphone..

Recordings were a bit faint when just using an XLR to USB adapter, and using this unit for phantom power did not improve the recording quality

No hum at all into a MOTU UltraLite Mk3 audio interface, and excellent quality.

Sound quality from the unit is excellent, no audible noise is added to the output from the phantom power supply.

If you experience something similar with the loud noise coming through your mic that is not intentional STOP what you are doing and unplug it

However it also put out a loud heartbeat thumping noise that got louder and louder until it almost turned into a screech

This morning the power LED light began to blink and there is no audio coming out just a loud noise

Then after suddenly discovering a loud screeching noise the LED no longer lights up and it doesn't seem capable of providing power

It leaves a horrendous loud screeching on the audio recording that is also audible IRL
