It may be more expensive then the cheaper rosin choices but according to my son it plays so much better than the cheaper stuff.

My own personal cake that I actually BOUGHT was that dark amber one in the navy blue velvet cloth with the little gold button, great stuff, can't remember the name, but I've tried everything from Super Sensitive " (ghastly! ) on up, and this is definitely one of my favorites

As an amateur player, I figured expensive rosin was only for the pros, and I could get by with the cheap stuff.

I bought it at a summer music camp a couple of years ago because it was the only kind they had available, but I loved it so much, I'm not going back to the cheap stuff I used to use

I think I like the Goldflex a bit more at this early stage of my testing, but this stuff is WAAY better than what came with the violin, or what a friend of mine gave

With the cheap stuff, it is usually necessary to score it with a knife or a quarter or something because the rosin is so hard that it does nothing unless you abrade it first.

Pretty good rosin, only gripe (and it is a small one) is that the cloth that is attached needs to be tucked in, it is a bit long for the container, but otherwise, pretty good stuff.

Needed a moveup from the cheap stuff that came with my violin
