I understand that you can "upgrade" to connect +, but I've read horrible things about speaker mode with Connect+.

This thing feels very solid, and you can tell the first time you handle it

First thing I did when I took it out of the box was run it under a faucet and it drained nicely and the sound was never compromised

Another cool thing is that the unit makes use of a lithium-ion battery which should hold back the "memory effect, but more than that, you can actually use it to charge your cell phone in an emergency via a cable that connects between the speaker and your phone

The only good thing it has going for it is that it's waterproof, which is also probably part of the reason it sounds like a speaker with a cardboard box over it
