I get more than enough bass with the amp and clear higher levels as well
I also found adjusting the settings on my amp to give a slight bass boost helped even out the sound, I found the bass was a little quieter then preferable without adjusting equalizer settings, but that is minor and if used in cars, most car audio systems have equalizer adjustments
I thought they would be more or less the same, but was surprised at the nice bass sound.
They are very versatile and provide enough bass for rap, hip pop, and enough mid and highs that you can even listen to classical, or jazz
The absolute clarity in them is fantastic, and please don't take me wrong with the previously mentioned shortcoming in bass range, they actually handle bass very well, the issue is they're not "dirty speakers", so you're not going to get
However, I noticed when testing them with my woofer unplugged, regardless of their wonderful clarity and range, they are a bit lacking in that "deep tone" dept, so if you're an eclectic listener like myself, you'll find yourself a little put off at the way they make some songs sound, again, only if you don't have a woofer
