  • Didn't do a great job at adjusting contrast/brightness but might have been my slides.
  • It is smaller than I expected, but it is doing a good job of scanning slides!
  • the company does a poor job in the manual to explain the operation of the unit
  • Not to mention the great job it does with 35 mm slides.
  • I was trying to save old family slides and it did a great job scanning and saving

Reviews around way (4.46 of 5)

  • The only problem I had, although minor, was the tendency of some slides to jam as they were inserted in the tray.
  • I was looking for an easy way to convert some old family slides into files to share.
  • BUT I DO NOT LIKE THE WAY YOU RUN
  • I have tried for years to get a good, inexpensive and easy way to turn my slides into a digital format
  • Found out the hard way that after many hours of scanning slides I only had a handful of them.

Reviews around price (4.17 of 5)

  • No complaints with it, reasonably priced.
  • easy to use and will help me replace the photos that have been given away over the years at a reasonable price.
  • Most all of the pictures we took way back then were on slide film, which was m u c h cheaper than prints.
  • In less than one week it fatally froze as I was scanning
  • Now, if they would make a higher quality unit like this at a reasonable price, I'd be all over it

Reviews around scanza (4.14 of 5)

  • I had a lot of negative’s that were 30-40 years old
  • The quality of the scanned photos from slides or negatives is not as good as if you had them printed, but for storing on a computer for "posterity", it is great.
  • this is a must to have, easy use, no need 4 a computer type scannerSmall not a lot of space needed, it does what's written, look at negative s

  • Once you get the hang of it, the Scanza is easy to use to create and upload positive images from slides and negatives.

Reviews around device (3.79 of 5)

  • but otherwise a great device to digitise those old memories.
  • We considered a cheaper device but were happy we went with this unit
  • One device didn’t work at all while the second device worked.
  • The device was easy to use and I digitized hundreds of old slides
  • The device itself is very easy to use and works quite well.

Reviews around result (3.62 of 5)

  • We were transferring slides from the early 1980's and had excellent results.
  • So even if you attempt to color correct in software later on, your results will always be inferior and compromised compared to a properly lit image
  • I used it for scanning 35mm slides & negatives with good results.
  • So far using only for 35 mm slides and the results are very, very good.
  • Especially at the interpolated resolution of 22mp (standard res is 14mp), the results are blurry and indistinct at best

Reviews around image (3.55 of 5)

  • In addition, adobe photo shop could not improve the image from the SD card.
  • Yes, the Scanza can be used independently from a laptop but my preference was to use it while connected directly via the included usb cable which also powered the scanner That interface was klunky for me as it involved scanning, transferring the photos from the sd card in the scanner to a file in the laptop, naming & sorting, then erasing the scanned images from the sd card (to reduce clutter and confusion). In short, it does the job, is economical compared to having slides scanned at the local photo shop, and provides a good result
  • The highlights were washed out, there was no shadow detail and the images were fuzzy.
  • This product does create good digital images from my slides (some of the slides are not all that good), but connecting to my computer has been a problem.
  • If you're looking to have good quality digital images from slides look elsewhere.

Reviews around unit (3.20 of 5)

  • I was lucky, unit was not damaged, but I would not buy from this source again
  • The unit is very easy to use and slides can be processed very fast
  • It could have just been a one off bad unit, but for the price you expect EVERYTHING to work
  • Light unit and ocover for it in base were lose and misaligned
  • This unit works exceptionally well to convert these slides to digital

Reviews around tray (2.84 of 5)

  • I've found it's much better to put the correct negative tray in the machine and leave it there; don't try to remove it and reload it with every negative.
  • The quality of the scanned photos from slides or negatives is not as good as if you had them printed, but for storing on a computer for "posterity", it is great.
  • The trays work for newer film and slides, but are a little tight for older curled negatives and slide casings.
  • Additional negative trays would make the process more efficient.
  • This is indeed portable, requiring USB power, but the negative tray is awkward and could easily damage your film strip if you are not careful

Reviews around slide (2.83 of 5)

  • If there is a scanner that has a jam free slide insertion method, it might be a better choice if you have many slides to scan
  • The unit is very easy to use and slides can be processed very fast
  • Unfortunately the slides and negatives were blurred and had no clarity at all.
  • But if your slides are good you should get very pleasing results
  • very easy to use, did over 500 slides that are approx 70 years old so far....works great....

Reviews around process (2.21 of 5)

  • Easy to use overall, but Scanza’s 135 slide tray design is the only glitch
  • For purposes of "copying" my 3x5 prints, the process is fast and easy with adequate picture resolution.
  • The one thing I have not developed a good process for yet is the naming of each picture file
  • Easy to use overall, but Scanza’s 135 slide tray design is the only glitch
  • The slide holders are kind of flimsy and it is a slow process to put them in separately and review

Reviews around plastic (2.15 of 5)

  • The very flimsy plastic gadget you put the slide into does not hold it in place
  • The results I had straight from the digitizer were as good as those I had from commercial labs at less cost vs. more time spent
  • Easy to use overall, but Scanza’s 135 slide tray design is the only glitch
  • Made of cheap plastic and unclear directions as to how to operate, I was able to get the thing cup and running, with awful results
  • Very pleased with the speed of conversion, would take the slides as fast as I could push them into the tray

Reviews around strip (1.65 of 5)

  • Trying to do 35 mm negatives was slow as the negative strip catches in the feeder jig
  • I was considering buying a more expensive scanner but opted for this because of the ease of scanning cherished 35 mm negatives strips from long ago.
  • It’s supposed to be easy load, but I’m having to pry open the adapter multiple times per negative strip because the negatives can not be pushed through the adapter as the description suggests.
  • Easy to use overall, but Scanza’s 135 slide tray design is the only glitch
  • n’t work

Reviews around film (1.49 of 5)

  • I recently used this to digitize old family negatives, slides, and 8 mm film
  • It's what is called a "one light" from the old film days (which I worked in for 29 years)
  • I returned it because it was not easy to do the video films, 8 mm, super 8 films.
  • So far have only done 135 film, but easy to use and scans look great.
  • It’d be good if the film could be loaded from the front rather than from the side as side loading could accidentky damage your precious films

Reviews around mm (1.47 of 5)

  • If you have old 35mm slides or negatives this is the way to go.
  • I was considering buying a more expensive scanner but opted for this because of the ease of scanning cherished 35 mm negatives strips from long ago.
  • Did a few old style 35mm negatives and absolutely love it so far.
  • From nice 35mm negatives, you'll get basically one megapixel of usable resolution
  • I'm using the Scanza for both 35mm slides and 35mm negatives and it does the job

Reviews around holder (1.38 of 5)

  • I always read the 5-star and 1-star reviews before making a purchase, and read the complaints about flimsy film holders that were hard to work with, and frankly, I don't know what these reviewers were expecting
  • good quality construction (slide holders could be beefier).
  • The ONLY way to make this usable would be to custom-make your OWN negative holders (in which case, why are you even buying someone else's product).Additionally, the USB power adapter supplied with the unit is actually inadequate to power the unit.
  • This was one of the few units I've found that actually supports that format (without going to high-end, professional units). It might be able to scan them fine, but the negative holders are entirely useless.
  • the only thing I didn't like the slide holder it allowed the slide to get stuck.

Reviews around drive (1.00 of 5)

  • I like this one because we are able to upload a box of slides to the memory card - just one of the upload options - then transfer the entire file over to the computer, label the file, and then label each photo that has writing on it, then save to external hard drive
  • The scanner works great and my old pictures are saved on my hard drive
  • I am saving the pics to an SD card that I will copy to my computer and also save to an external hard drive, so three copies that I can print, or share via email or text
  • Once scanned, the pictures easily transfer over to my 2TB external hard drive, where I can - at a later date - use an image program to make any adjustments I see fit
  • This allows me to share with adult children and grap external hard drive in an emergency evacation.

Reviews around curl (1.00 of 5)

  • I had pretty much kept the negatives in a cool, dry place, but they had curled significantly
  • The trays work for newer film and slides, but are a little tight for older curled negatives and slide casings.
  • It was easy enough to maneuver the curled negative into the holder, which allowed the entire image to be in focus
  • Also. if your negatives are slightly curled, they will hang up
  • If the negative is curled, the high plastic guides cause it to hang up

Reviews around feeder (1.00 of 5)

  • The negative feeder did not work properly and I had to pull out and advance each image
  • The negative feeder did not work properly and I had to pull out and advance each image
  • Biggest problem was the 135 negative feeder ( No2) had molding nodules on the exit slot which blocked the negative strip from passing right through

Reviews around feed (1.00 of 5)

  • The second flaw is the 35mm film gets caught on occasion as its fed through the tray
  • The negatives and slides fed into the device easy, but would occasionally get stuck if the slide or negative was a little warped
  • I had no problems with difficult feeding as mentioned by others
  • The negative feeding mechanism is: your hand.
