So, I used the HDMI to DVI cable from the Samsung and it works fine

I bought an HDMI cable before the monitor was received because the ad said "HDMI capable".

The color improvement over my older TFT monitor is hands down a tremendous improvement.

The picture is great

Right out of the box the brightness is set at 100 and the picture is to dark, i had to fool with the Windows gama settings and fool with the monitor settings to get more distinct black/grey colors for games and videos,
