    • I tried an adjustable bulb, but that doesn't work in this lamp
    • Put a bulb in it and it works just as I wanted it to.
    • Be sure to use cool running LED bulbs so the plastic shades don't become brittle with age from the bulb's heat.
    • I used LED conversion bulbs = looks / works great.
    • The main, upward-facing lamp takes a 3-way bulb and lights a bedroom well - even at the lowest level (I used an LED bulb)

    • We might bump up the florescent bulb to the next level -- which should still be within electrical tolerance
    • Finally I don't recommend using an LED bulb in the reading lamp as the support for the reading lamp is not stiff enough to support the weight of an LED bulb and it will droop
    • I am using the Philips 433227 10.5 watt slim style LED bulb for the main fixture and a Feit 2 watt LED bulb in the reading lamp.
    • I can see where there might be a problem with heat if you were using incandescent bulbs, but with newer LED bulbs, I doubt it will ever get hot enough to hurt the plastic shades
    • The shades are cheap plastic, so I wouldn’t recommend incandescent light bulbs
