very cheap plastic shades
-
Very flimsy plastic shades and the lower light did not work until I worked on the wiring.
-
I saw the other comments about the cheap plastic "shades".
-
Not only was the price right, but the lights are just perfect in a tight spot, offering both directed reading/working and a room illuminating top shaded light
-
Shade cracked.

Plastic shades get hot to the touch.2
-
The light on the side was missing a shade

The shades on these lamps are incredibly cheap and if you use an incandescent bulb it will crumble after a year of use
-
Cheap plastic shades, but works fine in the corner of the room.

So...one of the lamps doesn't have the flimsy plastic shade on it.

My dog knocked over our other floor lamp and broke the shades - not being able to find shades to replace it, I bought this lamp the structure of the pole is 1/4 of existing 5 year old lamp.
-
I can see where there might be a problem with heat if you were using incandescent bulbs, but with newer LED bulbs, I doubt it will ever get hot enough to hurt the plastic shades
-
The bottom light shade is stainless to match the pole, white the top shade is plastic and rather small - the only downside to an otherwise great lamp.
