I use this to stream internet to smart tv, laptops, tablet and phones

But the cherry on the cake was customer support which I called twice.

This router has a 'smart' setup utility that DOES NOT WORK.

Its setup is very easy and the web admin is very easy and friendly as well

The setup doesn't work because the disk it came with has firmware that no longer works.

After I downgraded the firmware I am still having problems.

I was then provided this link by Cisco ([...]) which has directions and links to what they call the "Classic" firmware.

Moreover, the instructions to downgrade to the regular "classic" firmware are complicated and not subject to technical support.

They reinstalled firmware and the Router worked for five minutes then failed again

I don't like how Cisco's classic firmware is over a year old, but I feel that I have no choice because Smart Wi-Fi IMHO is not ready to be used because other users like myself have the same problem.

They said the Range Extender was most compatible with the EA4500.Problems with intermittent connectivity/inability to stream media appeared right away.

Well I've had enough, I asked to return the thing to Amazon as it is a defective unit, do not want a replacement as if Cisco has such a lousy customer service experience and lousy phone system then how can one expect their products to be of any better quality

most people who see my reviews wonder why almost all are 5 star reviews and its because we research the products we buy before

I see other people have the exact same issue with this router.

Looked up my issue on the support forum and found that three other people posted exactly the same issue, but Cisco did not respond to any of the forum posts.

I researched this online and have encountered several threads of frustrated people that have not been able to resolve this same problem with Cisco or elsewhere

Fortunately so many people complained they allowed users to revert to the old firmware

Mac Mini wired to it with an Actiontech electrical ethernet plug to connect to the Asus router downstairs and it works flawlessly

So my principal machine (an iMac) is is hard-wired to the router.

I removed my old hard wired router and followed the instructions for the new 4500

Ended up buying different wifi device and now using the Linksys router hard wired only.

9205-n (the real-tek included with my brand-new Lenovo couldn't pick up the 5GHz signal)Now my wireless is moving as fast as my wired connection and way more reliably

Now, holding the hard reset button for 5-15 seconds as stated in the manual has no effect

Problems started with dropped internet connectivity, requiring resets of the unit every couple weeks (progressing to every couple days)

Linksys product support insisted I go though a complicated reset procedure, after which it worked for an additional 12 hours and then failed completely.

I've found many forums with the same issue, and the only answer is "hard reset"

I've tried holding the reset button for 10 seconds, doing a hard reset (30/30/30), and it won't work

I wasted many hours alone and with Linksys support trying to fix a number of issues

Every couple hours this router is losing connection and reseting and not gaining any internet access at all

$300 in, and hours wasted time, dropped connection trying to do work from home

I wasted two hours with an incompetent, chat person who finally gave me a phone number to call where I reached someone who was great.

I use it for network storage on an external hard drive.

I use all 4 of the network ports and have a portable hard drive on the USB

I plugged my external hard drive to the USB port of the EA4500 and it was detected automatically

I wasted two hours with an incompetent, chat person who finally gave me a phone number to call where I reached someone who was great.

Much better coverage than my Cisco E-4200 I replaced.

I finally used Google on my phone to find a phone number and then contacted customer service.

but there was no phone number on the box, only a website, a lot good that would do me considering I did not have

I told the second person to give me a phone number as the live chat process appeared that it was going to consume most of my day.
