M-Audio SP-2 | Universal Sustain Pedal with Piano Style Action for Electronic Keyboards
Style:Sustain
Before you buy a piano pedal, ask yourself this: do I know the polarity of my piano? You're probably thinking something like, "Yeah, sure I do — it's filed in my brain right between my social security number and my bank PIN." But seri...
This is a well built and heavy pedal that works great with my Korg Kontrol 49 midi controller (I have 2 of these pedals and use one in each pedal port on the controller)
On top of performing well and being well built, this pedal looks like an expensive one
The pedal was heavy, well built, and the resistance of the pedal matched that of my upright with similar kick back
well built for the price, but it doesn't meet my needs.
I like the price, and I like the feel and weight of this pedal
I love the weight of the pedal and it works well with my
Very simple, good weight (doesn't feel cheap at all), reasonably priced, does what it's supposed to... and looks pretty all at the same time!
I thought that for the price this would be some cheap, light weight, plastic thing with a life span of nothing that I would have to screw to a piece of plywood to make it functional
The pedal has good weight, and no troubles staying still on the floor
The squeaking is often louder than the piano itself, which obviously makes this an essentially worthless accessory for a piano
Had to have it rewired at least 5 times, both at the pedal end of the cord as well as at the plug end to the keyboard itself.
Very solidly built and heavy enough to stay put. Works exactly as it should and looks good although you and almost no one else will be looking at it much.
In fact, the squeaking is so bad I'm throwing mine in the trash
I had to open up the unit and fiddle with it to eliminate an annoying squeak with every foot press, but now it's perfectly silent.
Thankfully I saved the loose screw I found bouncing around inside it and was able to open it up and put the screw back in using thread-locker
Within a month or 2 of use, a screw came loose and fell out of the slot where the pedal goes in
these two screws became loose on mine and it stopped working (giving me a bad time thinking i was going to have to buy another) after screwing them tight again, it was good as new
Got my NEW second one, it's broke in the same place as the old one, loose hinge screw; machine fittings necessary to keep precise action on the switches; it DOESN'T WORK.
Because of the odd shape of the top of the spring, there's no great place to put a piece of felt (unlike with the Yamaha). So, both this and the Yamaha will start to creak on you, but the Yamaha is a bit easier to fix (except the bottom screws are really soft and will strip easily)
The cord is hard wired into the pedal so you can't easily replace the cable if that's important to you
I cleaned up a bit of dust and checked to see that all the wiring was still connected, but once reassembled, it still didn't work, so I guess I am just left to buy another pedal
If I had not taken it apart and discovered this(and fixed it), I would certainly be upset.+ Solid pedal.- Poor wiring design
The engineers should instead design a 1/4' jack for a regular instrument cable to plug in instead of the cheap wire permanently installed.
The pedal itself is excellent, however the wire is susceptible to breaking.

Before you buy a piano pedal, ask yourself this: do I know the polarity of my piano? You're probably thinking something like, "Yeah, sure I do — it's filed in my brain right between my social security number and my bank PIN." But seriously, this is important
Now, you could run off in search of your manual, or you could do yourself a favor and just buy an M-Audio SP-2 Sustain Pedal in the first place and save yourself the trouble
The SP-2 Sustain Pedal has a switchable polarity, so it will work with both your Yamaha piano and your Roland synth — no problem
The SP-2 Sustain Pedal also feels great, providing realistic piano pedal resistance and a slip-resistant grippy rubber bottom
And because the SP-2 Sustain Pedal is built to last, it will be there when you get your next synth or piano, ready to handle anything.
