I figured out that 2 things were probably causing the issue

Since the dashboard is matte and curved, I couldn't find one to stick on the dash, but the 3M sticky thing here was flexible

I have this mounted to front edge of my desk, and is just the ideal thing to have my phone directly in front of me just below my PC monitor.
