The magnet is stronger then the adhesive on the ring (I have the ring on the outside of my case) so I super glued the ring to my case, works great

The metal ring that you attach to the iPhone needs equally strong adhesive to stay attached to the phone.

I tried to attach the ring to the outside of the case, the adhesive was not strong enough to stay on the case.

I would place the metal ring on the inside of a case as suggested because the adhesive is not strong enough by itself to support the weight of my phone (note 8).
