The usual quality of great Marantz!

IFone uses a 2 Channel STEREO amp, and spkrs, then all bets are off.each system will be different.but if you choose to capitalize the higher resolution,and want TRUTH of sound , and music, then use the cd 6005with a decent 2 channel Stereo marantz amp,and stick in the Martin Logan electromotion ESL electrostatic spkrs.even the 5000series cd will work with these HIGH RESOLVING spkrs.these are along the lines of stax headphones

I didn't order it from Amazon, but the outfit that I purchased from were solid citizens and shipped a replacement before I shipped the defective unit back

Before setting it up I plugged-in the unit on the dining table to make sure it knew what a compact disc is

Then I pulled out the useless "NO DISC" CD5005 unit and plugged it in and voila, the remote worked on the defective unit; power ON, OFF, etc

Voices seem clearer and more 3D and seems to partner well.

I knew this was not a high end CD player, but thought it would be satisfactory using the outboard DAC

Everything is how I would like it to be, the built quality is really good, sounds good, looks good and with the PM5003 it makes a nice combo

An excellent bargain at the $299 I paid!Update, I ended up selling it because it skips on a favorite cd of mine which plays well on other machines

So pretty dud internals for what is by no means the cheapest CD player I've ever had

This player is only a few days old (may not be fully "broken in").
