The ear pieces are a little difficult to get used to and don't work well with glasses but the quality of the radio is good and the price was great.

I work in construction and needed a way to communicate with my coworkers when they go under a house to fix the foundation,It works very good for that but the distance to talk is only about two blocks away not even close to 36 miles more like a half of a mile

I would recommend these to anyone needing communications within a reasonable distance.

Which totally defeats the purpose because should an emergency happens we won't be able to connect to set up an "appointment" to check in with each other.

The advertised range on any FRS/GMRS is based on the most ideal conditions, such as mountain top to mountain top with no obstructions.

Midland has delivered a very good, high quality radio in the CXT1000VP4.

Don't waste your money with this product if you're using it to stay in contact while on a cruise.

We both have to go outside at a pre-determined time, & then its static-y at best.

These are not handhelds, but more for permanent installations, although the MXT275 is a good option.

Lastly, the antenna for handhelds cannot be removed/replaced, which also limits its transmission range.

After, you will need to move into the ham radio frequencies, which are far more dependable and have a greater range with the use of repeaters.
