Reviews around antenna (4.28 of 5)
-
Handheld antenna is a smal twist off type
-
If paired up with a good, solid antenna you will see a dramatic increase in range
-
But the good news here is that range will GREATLY improve with a better antenna
-
This radio is good for the price I recommend that you get a better antenna for it but its good for talking to another handheld or a car unit.
-
This radio has some kind of proprietary antenna connector that will NOT ACCETP THE MIDLAND 18-

Reviews around unit (3.32 of 5)
-
Although it is a cheap unit compared to other handheld radios, it is very durable and works great
-
With the roof mount antenna, the unit works great at a good distance.
-
If you are making a long term investment and want to spend twice as much money, you might want to consider the Cobra as a more solid and serious hand held unit
-
While it worked at a very short distance initially, less than 1/4 mile, after about a year of little use, the unit began losing power to the point of unable to transmit to even the truckers right next to me.
-
This unit appears solid, but it does not receive well nor does it transmit anywhere near the advertised distance that it should have.

Reviews around battery (2.03 of 5)
-
But this radio is very cheap and does not pick up very well, the batteries are hard to get in
-
Sometimes it overheats and drains the batteries in a few minutes.
-
This makes it easy to walk away and leave it turned on and plugged into your vehicle ... causing a dead battery
-
I only use the 12v outlet cord, which was included, because when I put cheap batteries in it the "low battery" light was on and it didn't make a sound
-
great price kills battery quick even on low power actually spoke to fellow cb'r 6 mles away and did not realize had it on low power bout 2 watts not the max 4 watts should get better antenna and chargeable battery's
