You can't expect them to work through thick concrete or metal barriers across far distances, and radio is always a black magic that may stop working unexpectedly for no apparent reason, it is not this product's fault

Still though, I recommend this product as the price is more than fitting for a radio of this caliber.

Other than the cheap-o earpiece and mic attachment - these little babies pack a punch, feel excellent in the hand, great sound, long battery life with rechargeable batt-pack, multi-function, FRS/GMRS with incredible range in urban setting.
