Misfit Shine - Activity and Sleep Monitor

    • Beyond that, the Misfit not only recorded how many steps I took or how many calories I burned, but it also recorded how many hours of sleep I got
    • After walking 1.9 miles, it says I burned 1343 calories.
    • by 8:06 am when I synced it with my iphone app, it said I took 748 steps and burned 622 calories ???
    • But if you are not into running but would like to log HIIT workouts e.g. it is not ideal, even bicycling it showed me that I burned 5 calories in 15 minutes
    • Some days I will have 8,000 steps and burn 2,400 calories, other days I will have 12,000 steps and burn 2,600 calories
    • Phone Apps are way better for tracking distance walked and my fitness pal can count your calories better as well
    • ... it says I only usually burn 135+/- calories taking 3,000+/- steps!)
    • For me, the major point of the device is to calculate how many calories I burn so I can calculate how many calories I can eat and still lose weight.
    • The Shine seemed to report that I burned significantly more calories than the Up Move did.
    • Does not keep correct distance and calories.
    • Just don't eat that brownie because you THINK you burned 500 calories more than you did!!
    • Also, calorie burn counts are wildly inaccurate - it claims that a 4 mile run for a 113 lb woman burns 659 calories??!!
    • and I supposedly burned 622 calories doing that??
    • Pretty accurate, when run I also wear a TomTom runner's GPS watch because displays pace (also a worthy device) and Shine's reading of distance, calories is reasonably similar
    • Yes, it is not ideal at measuring anything that doesn't involve steps (it's particularly bad at cycling), but I figured out that when I performed aerobic exercises that didn't have an accurate steps + calories burned ratio, I could combine it with my heart rate monitor, which gave me an accurate count of calories burned, and then adjust the amount of time spent on the activity in the Shine app to accurately reflect the number
    • An honest waste of $75 :C
    • An honest waste of $75 :C
    • I always wear it on my wrist but there is the option of wearing it as a sort of lanyard type thing as well as you can buy additional pieces to wear it as a necklace etc
    • I find that I really do want to meet my activity goals, both for sleep as well as for physical activity
    • I was really hoping this would work out as I needed an activity tracker for the swimming pool.
    • Don't use your money on this, as totally cool as it seems.
    • I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.
    • Very unhelpful as by then you have to start trying to sync all over again
    • My only criticism is that it pops out of the wrist band and it very easy to lose (as you will see from other reviews)
    • Ok, so I tried just now and it worked as it should, showing progress and then time
    • After reading the numerous reviews and looking at other activity monitors I decided to go with the Misfit Shine as I wanted something that would integrate with my business clothing, provide accurate readings for activities, monitor my sleep cycle, and I really wanted something that was waterproof.
    • It's so much more stylish than a FitBit, as well as being cheaper.-Accuracy
    • This is by far my favorite fitness tracker I've tried both for the sleek fit and comfort as well as for accuracy
    • Its just as accurate as when I walk or run
    • A few times it worked as it should, tap twice, show progress
    • As per other reviews I feel the device is let down by the poor design/quality of the strap which I very rapidly learned not to trust as it doesn't secure the Shine safely
    • The item doesn't work as it will not hold a charge.
    • I bought the so-called "Speedo" version of Shine from Misfit site directly in Sep as soon as it's available, and was highly expecting it
    • l have had my shine now for about three
    • I, like so many others, lost my Misfit Shine because of the cheap-o plastic band that comes with it
    • Since the Shine is magnetized the loose O-ring coupled with a strong magnet makes for a great combination.
    • I loved my shine however the bands r horrible
