Unfortunately, whenever we ran out of printer paper, my monitors would gradually start sinking as I pilfered it to print recipes

The "slot" will not reduce the weight the stand will support, and if the "slot" is not used, it will still support a monitor.

The metal legs can be adjusted to 3 heights and the steel construction gives me confidence my monitor won't come crashing down in the night

Despite having followed the assembly instructions carefully, my unit wobbled a bit when someone walked by and the floor vibrated a bit.

Didn't get 5 stars because it does wobble a bit, but not an issue unless maybe you will have a lot of weight on it.
