The hot plate can crack as it ages but it still makes coffee well albeit spills go into the bottom of the plate and leak on the table, or the off/on switch
Subsequently, the hot-plate itself began rusting after 6 months
Quick, quiet, and the hot plate function for keeping it warm is nice...but don't forget about it or you will have evaporated coffee stains in the pot
It make very hot coffee and it keep it hot with a very hot heating plate.
The hot plate will likely be the first thing to wear out.
Machine has not yet leaked and (in my case) has only made a great cup of coffee

Bad re-design of the original Mr. Coffee 4 cup Coffemaker
The DESIGN has a flaw and needs fix so we have the old reliable Mr. coffee baaaack;)There are a lot of reviews on their website that say the quality has disappeared and these no longer LAST like they once did
I really like its simplistic design - just one button which gets you the coffee you desire - and the brewing process is fast
My last coffee maker had a little handle that you used to lift the basket out which is a better design
The design is a little more modern than the old one I had and it's attractive
You absolutely need two hands to open the lid and even then it's not easy: the catch is directly in front (6:00 position) but there is no tab or lip to lift there.
Old review:This very basic model brews coffee, but the way the water tank lid fits doesn't keep water resulting from steam from dripping a lot down the outside and making a mess.
As a minor point, the one-piece top lid requires two hands to snap open which is inconvenient if you don't remember to open the lid before you fill the carafe with water to pour into the coffemaker.
But if you don't make sure the top lid is firmly closed, it will spew liquid all over
When you close the top lid the whole top flexes/bends down more than I think it should.
I pourthe hot water into my coffee or tea mug - I don't haveto deal with coffee grinds, filter papers, vinegar flushing
I have read the reviews and people say that coffee grinds are getting through
I recommend using it with the gold mesh coffee grind holder
This causes the filter to collapse and coffee grinds end up everywhere, including in the pot, if you do get the flow/switch valve to work
4-6 scoops of coffee grind for the full liquid measure will get you a good strength cup - remember, since this is drip machine, water will just pass through the grinds once
