They said, variously, that it was due to humidity (I am in high desert, very low humidity), steam from grinding (I grind one cup at a time, setting fine, #4, not enough grinding to make steam), a dirty chamber (the chamber is clean per the second picture), and a chamber that is wet (it is dry).

Eventually, it got so bad that, after thoroughly cleaning the motor chamber, then brewing 8 cups of coffee over four days of use, I again opened the bottom and vacuumed the motor chamber out.

You could set it to 8 cups and it only grinds 2 cups.

First impression was the short wider machine's design with added knobs for the grind selector and cups looked more modern and compact than it predecessor.

It's not used every day, but eventually it would grind the max cups even if set on 4 or 6 cups
