The sound is superb by its self but with a little mixing produces exactly what I was looking for.
-
The Crisp, Clean, Sound is all a Voiceover guy can ask for.
-
The sound is not amazing, but it is cheaper than a basic 58 and much more detailed.
-
lots of compliments on a clear sound
-
Very good sound
-
Now you will have to turn the mic input down, because it is very good at picking up clear sound
-
But this bad boy produced the same great sound at 1/5th the cost
-
Great recording sounds when hooked up in your home studio.
-
For the price this mic sounds outstanding
-
The pickup pattern is great, and the sound is excellent for something so thrifty
-
But XLR cables make it impossible for any humming or hissing sounds or disconnections of any kind since they lock in place and never need any toying with
-
BUT SOUND IS ABSOLUTELY MAGNIFICENT
-
If youre deciding between this and the AT-2020..get this, the response is amazing and rivals the AT-2020 and is good enough in the proper environment for voiceover workPros - Cheap, inexpensive, not terribly heavy, Sounds like a 200 dollar micCons - Cheap components that dont look like they will last longer than a few years, but MXL sells more expensive mics if you want a better sound
-
If you want to hear the great sound of the MXL Studio1-USB mic. check out my youtube video/song using this song
-
A little noisy if you boost the gain to much with a mic pre but using a good quality pre-amp and setting a proper gain structure should give you a nice, warm, full sound, perfect for a home studio on a budget.(Update 4-7-2016) I recently noticed the elastic part of the shock mount has completely lost it's shock absorbing ability
-
It records a group performing around the mic with quite good sound
-
It has a great bass sound but not much more to offer after that, especially for "harsh" vocals in music
-
Totally eliminated any unwanted sounds from hitting the table or moving things around.
-
Plugged into the Steinberg UR22 audio interface, the sound is clear and lush
-
Amazingly good sound for the price.
-
My vocalist sounds so clear and pristine
-
Sound is absolutely phenomenal when side by side cheap mics I use for karaoke
-
Very clean sound not too much tweaking needed in terms of EQing
-
This microphone, while looking really nice, started out being really good sounding in my studio.
-
(M-Audio Fast Track) failed to provide adequate sound into my computer.
-
as long as it produces great sound, that's all that matters
-
It has a crisp clear, big radio sound to it
-
Quality sound is important to make a quality video, as even a good video will be hindered if it has bad sound
-
great quality, so solid, clear sound, tge best
-
This obviously won't match top quality condensers, but for speech atleast, I find it to have a wonderful crisp tone with a warm sound to compliment your voice
-
I record things and my friends ask me how I get such a great a clean sound and they're amazed when I tell them it's my mxl 990
-
The MXL Studio1-USB mic is what I have used before and it has great clarity and sound
-
I have to keep the gain down low on the Alesis Multimix 4, the sound is so good, and you don't have to be right on top of it, either
-
That preamp warms up the sound and really helps this mic out compared to the built-in mic pre-amps on my board.
-
The sound is perhaps slightly warm for close-up vocal work, so for that you might want to roll back the lows on your eq just a tiny bit.
-
Some people say "muddy" sounding
-
I agree with other reviews that state that the sound is a bit muddy, but that's easily corrected with EQ.
-
Upgrading from a Blue Snowball, this microphone offers a clear sound for any vocal and instrument ranges.
-
Great sound!Very satisfied with this product

If you care a lot about the quality of the vocals, or if you need to record loud sounds, I would recommend saving up for a better microphone.
-
The sound was so smooth and responsive it was picking up all kinds of clear and precise tones it sounded great and was really worth the wait
-
This mic isn't bad by any means, I've got some great sound out of it
-
I have used it with two different PA systems and got excellent sound from both.
-
I love this microphone its amazing and the sound is just realy great good bang for the buck
-
It has a wonderful sound and well-made microphone with great dynamic response.
-
You will like the way the mic picks up the sound and delivers a rich sound.
-
Great sound
-
However, when I'm trying to record a grand piano or loud vocals, the microphone cilps and the sound comes out really fuzzy and distorted.
-
The included shockmount gives my bedroom studio a professional look....but more important, a professional sound
-
Just clean up the sound with some reverb and EQ and you're in business
-
It very quickly however developed a really harsh buzz, followed by complete cutting out (no voice transmission at all for a few seconds at a time, followed by a loud popping sound).
-
It just has that smooth radio sound you hear on stations like NPR, which I just love
-
great quality sound for recording
-
Awesome Mic and studio sound quality
-
I like the deeper, warmer sound of the 990, but it's too flaky to trust.
-
Great sound, versatile and ideal for pod-casting.
-
If you're miking an acoustic instrument from 3 ft or further away, then the sound is crisp and has enough low end to just be pleasant
-
Incredible clarity and great sound highly suggest anyone to purchase this mic if you are in the market for one
-
it doesn't seem to pic up back ground noises and has a crisp clean sound
-
The price is a great way to save for those that are looking for a great sounding mic, and the quality is good.
-
It gives you a really smooth clear crispy sound
-
Great crisp clear sound
-
Now I don't have to fidget with those crappy 1/8" cables anymore, and there's never any hissing or annoying humming sounds to worry about
