It sounds fantastic and with a proper interface, possibly the best condenser I've tested that's under 150 bucks.

I recommend this mic if you're looking for a versatile large diaphragm condenser mic and don't want to take out a second mortgage to get one

Someone said in another review that you'll quickly grow out of the MXL 990 mic once you realize that it sounds like a cheap Chinese condenser mic.

its a very good condenser mic, super great for vocals very sensitive can pick up all your vocalsperfect for vocal artists

This obviously won't match top quality condensers, but for speech atleast, I find it to have a wonderful crisp tone with a warm sound to compliment your voice

It contains the normal characteristics of an inexpensive condenser microphone (i.e. bright high-end, however that is nothing that can not be controlled with the use of an equalizer)
