  • how ever the gain it does have is very useable and the gate works wonderful!!
  • it's distortion, but a very nice one, sustain, life, it has everything, even the low gain is nice, and the noise gate love it

Reviews around plug (5.00 of 5)

  • when it's plugged into a PA – hell, it sounds good when it's plugged into my studio reference monitors
  • It sounds amazing when it's plugged into a practice amp, it sounds
  • It DOESN'T sound good when plugged in DI, though, because – since it's essentially an amp head – it really needs SOME kind of speaker cabinet; but this can be basically ANY cabinet, as far as I can tell; and can be remedied in-the-box by running the DI signal through a convolution amp modeler like ReCabinet, convolution reverb and cabinet Impulse Response, or if you use a piece of amp simulation software like Guitar Rig – but just using the cabinet without the head

Reviews around area (5.00 of 5)

  • A couple important areas of note - the gain is not volume, it's actually gain

Reviews around thing (5.00 of 5)

  • The dials are super sensitive, and this is a great thing for getting a wide range of tones
  • Otherwise, I love this thing

Reviews around guitar (5.00 of 5)

  • to literally any and every piece of software I could get my hands on (NI Guitar Rig is my favorite; IK Multimedia AmpliTube is great for clean or overdriven guitars, but falls short on thick metal rhythm; and Peavey's own Revalver just doesn't cut it, surprisingly).I wasn't able to be fully satisfied, that is, until I tried this pedal
  • Eddie doesn't use this, he only puts his name on it (he's my favorite guitar player of all time, but it's disappointing that he puts his name on products he would never use
  • I wanted to write this review for all the guitar players who love Eddie's sound

Reviews around sustain (5.00 of 5)

  • it's distortion, but a very nice one, sustain, life, it has everything, even the low gain is nice, and the noise gate love it
  • The gate works fine when you're either playing with low-gain settings or not playing anything at all; but when the gain and outputs start to get above about 50% each, very loud buzzing noise begins creeping in the moment the guitar's sustain starts to drop

Reviews around tone (4.21 of 5)

  • Also, since I'm using the Decimator G string through my FX loop, the pairing of the two gates make for super tight and heavy rhythm playing without killing your tone too much
  • I use it with a Roland JC-120 and a 335...incredible tone
  • No, those tones were not identical to the aforementioned bands, but getting really great metal tones with this pedal is not difficult

Reviews around distortion (3.86 of 5)

  • This is an expensive distortion pedal and there are many good options for $50-$75 less
  • Not only does it give you the basis of the EVH drive tones, it is just an excellent overdrive/distortion pedal in general
  • The 5150 id an awesome Distortion pedal that sounds like a jacked up Marshall
