Everything else was immediately identified at the correct speed, set up was easy, and everything is going great after a weeks use.
The lights on the switch DO show the correct speed and PCs plugged into the switch DO show that they have negotiated at 100baseT, gigabit, etc.
I am getting incredible speeds though this unit and I am able to manage it just how I like it.
The LEDs indicate connections and speed well enough, and it's nice not having to gaze around cables to see them, though it takes a moment to connect the dots between the port itself and the lights

Used only as a switch and none of the smart switch features
Great commercial features without spending a ton of money.
quiet, cheap, good software features.
Great little swith for home or office all the basic features you could ask for as well as a good heavy duty construction
Great switch if you don't need lots of fancy switch features - supports VLANs and PoE, but doesn't have other "managed switch" things like link aggregation or span ports

If ease of management was a higher priority to me, I'd have knocked off one or two stars, but the switch works
Installed a small IP phone and data system at my house, and this switch worked perfectly.

I have a 1 Gb LAN and this switch works quietly and perfectly.
In the meantime I put the stock fan back in with some padded, double-sided tape, and it seems to really help (almost enough to call it good). On a different note, the switch works great.

Great, came in promptly, well packaged and worked as advertised.
This product seems to work as advertised pretty well right out of the box.
I spend 100+ bucks for this toy that does not work as advertised and now they offer me to put it in the garbage and buy another switch that may be support IGMP querier...but may be not support
Great Product works as advertised but disappointed with Amazon.
Super fast high BW (1Gbps works as advertised on multiple ports at once)

Great Product works as advertised but disappointed with Amazon.
I went to the Netgear support website which asks you to enter the product serial number and purchase
Its interface matches the other NetGear products in this line, so setting it up was a breeze if you've had a ProSAFE switch before, but perhaps a bit clunky if you have not
For such a well-known brand as NETGEAR we were surprised this product had such weak customer support.
Whiles this product is overkill for my needs, I purchased it to evaluate for use by one of my clients

So yeah, no possibility of ever having this thing work with Chrome
You would think this would earn a 5 star review, but a few things made me knock this down 2
I don't have much in my network closet, but this is by far the loudest thing there
The switch is plug and play, which is a good thing because Netgear does not offer configuration software for the Mac (this is the reason I only gave the product 4 stars)
and it works fine again for a few hours then the same thing happens

Allows port aggregation for NAS and other high data rate applications with dual LAN ports, just make sure that intended devise is port aggregation capable, as you must setup aggregation in both the switch and
My GS116E is deployed in a SoHo environment, with 15 out of 16 available ports continuously utilized in two active vlans
I had outgrown my 8-port TP-LINK switch, and 16 ports was the perfect number
I got this as a replacement for a Dlink 24 port switch that interfered with my wireless signal
The only way to restore the failed port is a reboot of the router

The noise of the fan makes me wonder if its already failing new out of the box.
People complaining about fan noise need to realize this is outside the typical realm of consumer grade switches, it has a fan, needs a fan, and well, fans make noise in switches
I havent noticed any loud fan noises coming from the switch, like some other reviewers noted
It would be terrific if not for that (and still is if noise is not an issue).

The fan is pretty quiet at 24.6 dB.There is also a 28 port, and 48 port model in this new series, the GS728TP and
You can easily purchase a quieter Sunon fan specifically for this model on eBay
The fan is consistently loud and does not sound "even" which makes it a bit annoying
I bought a suitable fan, but the new unit has been so much better than the original one that I have not seen the need to do the replacement
This switch has a much larger footprint than the Zyxel, but it also has an additional 15w of power for POE.This switch has a very quiet fan, while the Zyxel has no fan at all.
