I needed a quick replacement, and this was available at a good price.
At this point I don't know if this a ploy from Comcast to force you into paying their exorbitant prices to rent a modem/router (because this is my second purchased modem having these issues 2 different brands/models) or if this Netgear modem is just a POS
Needed a DOCSIS 3 modem for cable providers signal and this did exactly what it needed to do and at a good price
For my part I really wish that this was beefed up a bit so it could server as simple router for a home network, but that would have bumped the price up quite a bit (the C7800 is netgear's offering for that market, and its substantially more).
Modem was easy to set up, great speed and price was very reasonable

I WOULD NOT BUY THIS MODEM AGAIN, AND WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND AGAINST ITS PURCHASE.It’s always difficult to say if a device providing poor connectivity is due to the vendor (e.g. Cox, Mediacom, etc.) or the hardware

With this modem I am getting significantly faster speeds.
Since this modem is docsys 3.0 if used on an account with comcast gigabit service your speed will be downgraded to a max of 25/5
Additionally, as far as speed is concerned, check with your cable provider (not the list on this page) as to which tiers are certified for this modem, as it varies from provider to provider
MODEM are pretty simple, you make sure you have enough channels to cover your speed or you may limit the speed of your connection
I'm getting great speeds directly from the modem and have not had any issues at all with this modem

Lasted two months before beginning to have wildly inconsistent performance; would stop working go out for an hour, then miraculously start working again without issue for several hours
The problem was inconsistent, and at times, awful performance
No problems at all and much-improved performance over previous modem
DQoS sounds good in principle, but really hampers maximum router performance
It definitely seems to be a better product (performance and reliability) than the Cable Company modem

Needed tech support because I had a Comcast phone modem and would not allow self set up.
I had reason to call tech support when I ran into a problem with this modem.
Netgear tech support will only replace a CM500 with another CM500.
The first ID’s on the box were different than on the modem and didn’t work!
One star removed as there is virtually no support to be had from Netgear, tech support is in India, they are very difficult to understand and not helpful at all..if you anticipate relying on their assistance, seek another modem brand as their tech support is awful.

Easy install, compatibility with my cable provider, and increased my speeds
You need docsis 3.1 modem for 1Gbps, and this netgear was the missing piece!Install was easy, I plugged it right up and called the Xfinity agents up and this sweet agent did all the work after she put in the MAC address and Model number on my account to activate, then unplugged the router and BOOOM
Worked fine while I had it, easy install, low maintenance
Since installing about a month ago we've had zero issues with connection (we also use a Netgear router for our wireless network).All in all, I'd say this is a worthy investment for Comcast customers with both internet and landline phone
We have had no issues since installing this Netgear product

Everything is working great and my picture is just as clear as when I had cable.
I don't know if it was the cable company (Spectrum/TimeWarner) that lied and refused to activate it, or if it was the modem itself
The cable company repaired the issues finally, but this modem was a champ during the period of bad signal.
Plugged it in, called my cable company, and had it working pretty quickly
My cable company was baffled, given the specs, but when we swapped it out with an Arris to rule out this as the problem... sure enough speeds shot through the roof
