I've read tons of reviews about all the best mesh network in the market
This is one of best Mesh solutions on the are especially with the new firmware that enables a wired backhaul connection
Despite it's fancy "mesh" technology, you can find systems that include an additional wifi extender for FAR less than half the price that perform considerably better and include higher grade security.
If you don't have a mesh network you are really missing out on the coverage and speed.
This is an EXCELLENT wi-fi mesh system for home or business.
I have a suspicion that at some point I will get tired of the flakiness and go back to my linksys velop even if it means living with slower speeds
Once you are installed and set up your satellites, the coverage is insane and the speeds are outstanding
Honestly this has just been plug and play and everyone that gets on the network gets fast speeds.
We have a 5000 square foot office and the coverage is strong throughout and every device has fast speeds
The juniper is still on my network but due to its location and limited speed I decided to give the Netgear Orbi a try for a whole home wireless mesh network
I've discovered that if one particular Orbi satellite is rebooted while using ethernet backhaul, it jams the whole system up and everything grinds to a complete halt and nothing works.
While the community support was happening I realized the system was worse than I though as my Samsung Galaxy s6 starts throwing authentication errors, my Roku's start dropping TV streams, and my wife's laptop has connection issues.
I’m used to seeing some sign of life from a flashing LED or such on a router, so this threw me for a loop until I found a forum entry that suggested it was fine and the system wasn’t defective.
Now this particular system is really a little too expensive for home use BECAUSE it really is aimed at the small business (offices and motels) market
Trying to do it from the Orbi app before I flashed the firmware was what initially crashed the system and sent me on the wild goose chase hunting down a full solution to the problems I was experiencing
Provide reliable, fast internet in a 10,000 square foot building
What I will say is that this was the easiest thing I've ever had to set up where internet and wi-fi is concerned
This means that if you have 99 devices that can handle super-fast internet and 1 device that is super-slow, the network must slow itself down to serve the 1 slow device.
Even with my current crummy Internet service, I haven't ran into any technical issues
I had the best, most highly rated Netgear router but internet was always dropping (we have a lot of brick)
I found these to be an excellent mesh Wifi solution and have recommended them to others.
With the extenders, it makes a good solution for a small business, but is best for people who have not yet purchased other networking equipment they would like to integrate with
Since upgrading to gigabit internet service, I've been looking for the best router solution for my home.
The cheap-o router only had an omni directional antenna
The Orbi Pro AC3000 is by far the best solution I have tried.
Most of the time connections are great and range is great
This NETGEAR Orbi Pro AC3000 Business Mesh WiFi System is virtually a plug-and-play system with a strong connection and a wide range of coverage.
For having such a large, ugly antenna this product's range is particularly disappointing
This is a common problem and again disappointing as I'm trying to connect two Netgear products, and they don't work well together
I had tried the Linksys mesh system and it had worse coverage than a single centralized router, and was hard to set up in many ways, so was looking for something with better range and performance
Netgear tech support is abysmally bad - probably because they are over worked support defective product
Every call to tech support is answered (after a 45 min hold) by a tech who says he or she cannot help with Orbi pro, and then transferred to an Orbi pro support line which never picks up.
The thing that has driven me to give up is that the already low quality of tech support for the home Orbi router is non-existent for the Orbi pro.
I never needed to contact tech support while setting up the unit
However, the consistent dropping of internet connection, terrible customer support, and terrible tech support had led me to having nearly $800 in a complete mess
So, I'm at a total loss to explain why the Orbi would have a weaker signal
it depends on the layout of your home, what sort of construction it has, what is blocking the signal (in my situation, the bedroom with the awful wireless signal is only about 30 feet away from the router, but there are two walls and a lot of appliances in the way).
and I my daughter’s computer is at the other end of the house in an enclosed carport with a brick wall slowing down the signal
Wireless signal (regardless of router) is always awful in that room.
Had a nighthawk X8 on top floor and suffered from poor signal and interference in parts of lower floor
I call it, then the tech asks me some questions and tells me he has to transfer me to a special orbi support team.
If you are wanting this purely for a wifi system and will be using an advanced router for traffic inspection, device control, and parental controls, then Orbi is fine -- pricey but fine.
The Netgear Orbi has made wireless available in our house again
Oddly, despite being a cheap-o router, my existing one has better security features than the Orbi, including RADIUS authentication
The Orbi SBK60 seemed like a great option as it covered the mesh and advertised business class WiFi for small businesses
So if you wanted a standard setup with multiple hard-wired APs they would probably do OK.
Other times they won't work at all with out rebooting (even though other devices hard wired to the satellites' LAN ports continue to work
The back-haul (private and independently routed) dedicated communication between the Router and the Satellite(s) creates a conduit that rivals a hard Ethernet wired path from one end of my operational 'space' to the other.
The Orbi app can actually be worse than a hard-wired setup attempt even with the inclusion of the QR code functionality - which creates a poor customer experience - yet neither method is smooth when attempting to initialize the system as an AP (access point) arrangement out-of-the-box.
I use $50 routers in bridge mode that can work three rooms away - but they have to be hard wired
