Overall, the lens produces good pictures throughout the zoom range (although it suffers somewhat in low light condition), and the VR makes it possible to hand-hold the camera with some pretty low shutter speeds without blurring the image
This telephoto lens has given me some excellent pictures
It seems when I use the VR, it takes worse pictures then without the VR
When using the zoom at 200mm, the autofocus constantly clicks (like it's hunting for proper focus), and the pictures all come out blurred - more like double vision - in bright light.
The pictures i took with it are so clear and the focus works really great

The 70-300 shares the 55-200's cheap, sticky zoom, but the 70-300mm lens has enough of an edge in every important performance category to move it from the "very competent" category to the rather sparse category of truly superlative lenses.
This lens has given me the right amount zoom and the pictures are very crisp.
i love this lens not too expensive and i get some great zoom shots really nice lens and great quality photos couldn't ask for more
You can't go wrong with that, and your photos won't look better with a more expensive super-zoom.
All I can say is this is an incredible zoom lens for the money.

the vibration reduction feature works great, and its capable of taking pretty good pictures as long as the light is good

There is also a newer version of this lens Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-200MM f/4-5.6G ED Vibration Reduction II Zoom Lens with Auto Focus for Nikon DSLR Cameras but all it adds is a more compact size, but to begin with the lens is already light and compact
It is pretty fast and I have had good photos in bright light as well as evening shots

Nowhere near as sharp as my 50mm and 35mm prime lens, but very good for the price
I actually returned this unit and went with the 18-200MM lens because I thought it was worth the extra money to be able to take up close pictures as well as to be able to zoom on objects further

This is also a perfect portrait lens as it blows out the backgrounds with Bokeh making your images look that much better
It arrived in perfect condition, and the pictures I have taken with it are clear and crisp, and I have not noticed any camera shake, thanks to the VR incorporated in this lens.

VR for high zoom is very helpful since I can use a slower shutter speed to increase the exposure
The VR allows for quick shots while panning and slow shutter speeds without a tripod
, Nikon Lens are great for Nikon cameras (mine is D50), simple to use, taken several pics, with adn without VR, there is a difference specially in slow speeds and dim light.
Just remember, VR is just for camera shake and won't help with slow shutter speeds a even a slightly moving subject
The VR handles 200 mm hand held shoots at reasonable shutter speeds well

But if your subject is relatively still, you'll have no problem letting in more light at a slower shutter speed to get great photos

I have a Nikon D5500 which I read was compatible and the AF jammed every time I tried to focus and made strange noises when trying to focus
When this first started happening,the lens, when fully zoomed to 200mm would not focus and the lens motor made a sad little squealing noise
While zooming in and out a heard a god awful grinding noise
Sometimes makes a loudish whirring noise when the vr is on, whichis a little worrying
It makes terrible noise when focusing compared to other lenses, and is not blazing fast.
