Reviews around price (4.75 of 5)

  • So, short delay but all in all recieved a good lens at a good price and original lens was also great but will not auto focus with certain models
  • But the price was fantastic, for a lens that will get use on the tripod.
  • This is a great lens, for an outstanding price for a beginner
  • This lens apperture is an unbeliavable f4.5, its widest apperture is not even f4 but 4.5 and this is a 300mm lens!Again, the lens is pretty good for what it was designed and the price is not bad.
  • Price and quality outweighs a small noise

  • But if you shoot from a tripod or some other type of rest this lens can get very good results, and you can't complain about the price.
  • so I braced myself and took a photo of a duck and the result is stunning
  • what a lens, awesome pictures so interesting you just get carried away and ur lost when ur doing a photo shoot, u just wanna click more n more
  • You need to read the instructions for the lens and camera, and select the proper settings to get good results

Reviews around zoom (4.45 of 5)

  • I was wanting a new lens for my D60, something with a zoom and the vibration reduction
  • I love the zoom of the lens, and it is very easy to handle.
  • Got this with discount from D7100 this lens is huge and got good zoom range
  • Not quite so fine is the still-sticky zoom ring, which takes just enough effort to turn that near 300mm your subject will tend to jump around, maybe right out of the frame, as the hand holding the lens works in opposition to the hand holding the camera.
  • This is the cheapest Nikkor zoom lens that will get you to 300mm, so is the build quality

Reviews around light (4.38 of 5)

  • Give me enough light and I can make this lens work beautifully.
  • So if you're expecting to shoot inside or in bad light and get good images, this probably isn't the lens for
  • If you shoot in poor light, this is an unacceptable lens
  • Give me enough light and I can make this lens work beautifully.
  • this lens does have some difficulties finding focus in dim indoor light.

Reviews around shot (4.38 of 5)

  • I have also taken some great shots at night baseball games under the lights with this lens
  • I miss some shots because of low light, but this is really just a matter of how much money I can afford to spend on a lens.
  • Bought for wildlife photography, focus isn't bad but manual focus ring is slow, missed a couple great shots.
  • I may never get the 2.8 and will have missed all the great shots that the 70-300mm would have produced
  • I am new at photography and this lens makes it easy and takes great shots.

Reviews around product (4.30 of 5)

  • what a lens, awesome pictures so interesting you just get carried away and ur lost when ur doing a photo shoot, u just wanna click more n more
  • You have to use this lense with stand..not good with night time photography..as all photos looks shaky however good product at less price
  • The telephoto lens is really a nice product, easy to focus and use.
  • It was the most expensive product I have ever purchased from Amazon and I would do so again in the future based on this experience.
  • great product for the price you pay for it, I have been able to take great sports shots with it

Reviews around picture (4.26 of 5)

  • But if I had a film camera, I might not be quite as happy if I had to pay for developing some blurry pictures
  • what a lens, awesome pictures so interesting you just get carried away and ur lost when ur doing a photo shoot, u just wanna click more n more
  • Great lens for my D7000, fast focus takes great birds pictures.
  • Can't wait to get out and take some really great pictures with it.
  • If you try to shoot with a slower shutter (i.e. 1/60 shutter on a 100M zoom factor) your pictures will come out blurry unless you use a tripod

Reviews around quality (4.23 of 5)

  • This lens deserves the best quality filter you can afford
  • The lens is of great quality and the shipping experience was stress-free
  • I was tired of the poor quality shots that I was getting from both of
  • this lens is not VR, but for the price, the quality is awesome
  • The build quality is plasticky and for a lens of this focal length range, it's a tad

Reviews around vr (4.10 of 5)

  • Even though this lens lacks the vibration reduction (VR) feature, it is possible to hand-hold it and get some really good shots even at the far end of the range.
  • VR is excellent in places where you're not allowed to use a tripod
  • I have a lens with the previous iteration of VR and the new VR is much better in actual use.
  • The reviews for this lens are very good, but it seems to be neglected by the masses in favor of the 18-200 VR
  • The bottom line is VR won't cure bad long lens technique.

Reviews around focus (3.73 of 5)

  • Bought for wildlife photography, focus isn't bad but manual focus ring is slow, missed a couple great shots.
  • Quite slow auto focus but runs well for an amateur as me.
  • Great lens for my D7000, fast focus takes great birds pictures.
  • I'm also very impressed with how sharp it is (it is sharper than my 18-70mm) and also the focus is fast and quiet
  • Very fast auto focus in good light situations with the D60, not that great in lower light situations

Reviews around lense (3.53 of 5)

  • More expensive lenses give you larger aperture when fully zoomed, but this lens is provides a good overall compromise.
  • The Lens is very good for being one of the more cheaper 70-300mm lenses that Nikkor provides.
  • I have bought over 20 lenses in my life, some quite expensive, but never have I been as pleased with a lens as I am with this VR Zoom lens.
  • My only complaint is that the auto focus does not work as well as the less expensive Nikon lenses.
  • The 70-300 G is definitely one of the least expensive lenses to get you to 300 mm, but there are some tradeoffs with the low price tag.

Reviews around area (2.82 of 5)

  • I will tell you in decent light or tripod situations this lens is just as sharp as the 70-200 f/2.8 (stopped down one stop from wide open) in the 70-200 focal range on my D700 and just as sharp at all aperatures (once again in the 70-200 focal range) on my D90.
  • the aperture to f8 or f11, the images do get sharper but aren't as sharp as in the 70-200mm range
  • yes the camera loves light and in low light the results are not near as good as when in full sunlight
  • (I have knocked off one star because the sharpness breaks up as you approach 300mm)
  • I would not let the camera decide what to focus on at that zoom though, like another person said it would probably be the kiss of death with all of that shaking going on, or the camera totally confused as to what what to focus on, since it will focus on perhaps landscape when you want a bird's eye where the bird is on a branch in focus

Reviews around lack (2.12 of 5)

  • I will tell you in decent light or tripod situations this lens is just as sharp as the 70-200 f/2.8 (stopped down one stop from wide open) in the 70-200 focal range on my D700 and just as sharp at all aperatures (once again in the 70-200 focal range) on my D90.
  • The lack of tripod mount on the lens makes it difficult to use on a tripod
  • Even worse in my opinion is the lack of a smooth, front-mounted focus ring, which I find fairly important in a long zoom.
  • the aperture to f8 or f11, the images do get sharper but aren't as sharp as in the 70-200mm range

Reviews around shutter (1.85 of 5)

  • If you try to shoot with a slower shutter (i.e. 1/60 shutter on a 100M zoom factor) your pictures will come out blurry unless you use a tripod
  • The 70-300mm lens also features Nikon's Vibration Reduction tech which helps you avoid shaky pictures from shaky hands when you are using slower shutter speeds
  • There is also no image stabilization, therefore to take consistent sharp images in low light you need to use a fast shutter speed, which may not always be easy to do
  • thank u
  • Since my D80 has the cropped sensor, I usually bump up the shutter even a little more, for 300mm I'll use 1/400 or 1/500 if my goal for that shot is to get super sharpness

Reviews around sound (1.61 of 5)

  • what a lens, awesome pictures so interesting you just get carried away and ur lost when ur doing a photo shoot, u just wanna click more n more
  • 70-300 lens also makes an odd clicking sound (that you can get used to) whenever you use autofocus
  • be to-the-point, the negatives on this lens is that it is slow to focus and a bit noisy (sound, not image quality)
  • Unfortunately when i connected it to my D750 camera it had a difficult time on autofocus and made a horrible sound while attempting to do so
  • With VR enabled and a 1/2 press of the shutter release button you'll hear an annoying clicking sound

Reviews around move object (1.41 of 5)

  • It is not in the super b lenses
  • If you want lots of zoom, plan to use it outside, and don't plan on photographing fast moving objects, this can work out for you.
  • Have used it at a dog show to take great photos, movement and across the ring shots, and taken some good ones at performance events, just have to work out the focusing with a fast moving object, I just know that this lens will not last long for that reason.
  • Vibration reduction (camera and lens) does an excellent job tracking moving objects
  • if you are trying to capture a fast-moving object, I DO recommend that you already have the focus in the approximate focus range, and then the lens will focus in about a 1/10th of a second).
