With this being one of the most popular lenses out there, i won't bore you with the review except to say I'm completely satisfied!

Other lenses will be great for wide landscape shots, or for reaching out to faraway subjects.

It is awesome for portraits and has inspired me to play with bokeh and the multitude of settings that the D80 can offer in ways that zoom lenses tend to discourage due to their fire and forget inherent nature - not to mention the variable aperture as focal length changes

It takes a little getting used to as I have only used adjustable lenses but I love the wider angle and the beautiful clarity.

I use a Nikon D3200 and have had this lens for about two years and it is one of my favorite lenses

I really enjoy shooting prime lenses for the sharpness, shallow DOF available, and of course the HIGH PERFORMANCE for the LOW COST.

50mm lenses also used to be the typical kit lens offering before inexpensive zoom lenses were commonly bundled with SLR's.

This lense is great in low light

My only advice to others would be that this is only a really good portrait lense on a crop sensor camera
