Another thing to note is that if you want to buy titles from the eShop, you are able to fund your account using any Visa card(there might be other compatible crds however, I don't remember the small list

If you are planning on buying Pokemon X/Y or any future 3DS Pokemon game(again, be sure you either buy it from the eShop or import it), you are able to select whatever language that suits you, given that you have enough common sense to se up the 3DS and all, the language selector when you first start up the game is in Japanese although whatever language you slect there becomes it for the rest of the game except for the announements
