I love the concept but..... the product is completely ineffective

, I do love the design concept, and it does a good job in my truck holding my phone in place

Probably the best car mount you can get if you want a very slim look, and not all bulky like most car mounts especially if you have a large phone

These things are absolutely awesome - the best car mount hands down.

Absolutely best to have in your car and very helpful to not look down!

And even better, you don't have to fiddle with unhooking your phone from an annoying car mount and risking your safety, or anyone else's on the road

This worked OK for about a week, even though we got it in winter, and he complained the vents with the heat on made his phone even hotter, and that isn't good for your battery.

I am really impressed with the quality of the system, the adhesive works well and the cradle system holds the phone effectively

Looks cool, looks like a great idea, but terrible functionality

The design make the phone easy to move when needed, but it stays exactly where you place it otherwise

Unfortunately the gripper has to be the worst design I have seen there is no spring action to it at all it nier springs off nor default clamps on and the gripper covers on it are super slippery that the phone slides down

I loved it but can only give it 3 stars because in my opinion having the magnet on the phone is a poor design.

Its design is incredibly simple and it is way more effective than the huge bulky gripper design

Also, the design is not great for big phones like my note 8

I read a lot of reviews on this product but they all lacked one thing

The best thing right off is you can move your phone at will to get it out of the sun glare or in different angles to view things and it will stay in that position.

That's about the only negative thing I can say about these things.

I attached it to a clean, flat, smooth surface and both adhesive circles that came in the box failed to stick

I'm going to try to abrade the surface of the magnet with very fine sand paper and see if that helps

Is a decent product but has to be mounted on a smooth surface

I haven't tried scuffing the surface to give it more grip

If you try to mount it on a vertical smooth plastic surface it will not support a phone like the gs7 edge

Originally purchased vent ball mount with magnetic ball socket

Vent ball mount was heavy that would tilt the vent down and the phone as well most of the time

but you lose the phone magnet (which interfered with the NFC on my device).

This by far, the BEST phone mount I've purchased for my vehicle!

and it's hands down the best phone mount I've ever used

If you just twist the phone to the side it works just fine.

The magnet doesn't work at all, my phone will fall off with the slightest tap

My cheaper magnetic ball mount did a great job but double sided tape failed so I decided to spend a bit more and get my money worth

I have spent so much money on other mounts that don't work as well as this one

Holds very securely and won't fall off while going over bumpy terrain.

I was a little worried that my phone would come loose and drop to the floor when driving through rough terrain or bad roads

I placed the Steelie near the dashboard on my old Jeep Wrangler, which I commonly use to rough, bumpy terrain

Also if you are riding over rough terrain, I had one in my jeep, phone will rotate down on the ball

You can put the ball back on and as it cools it sticks itself back in

I wish I could return it because the magnet came off my phone and now all I have is a useless ball on my car vent

The remedy it so use a tissue and some rubbing alcohol to clean both the gasket and also the steel ball.

Interestingly, the small, shiny steel 1" diameter ball and mount, with my iPhone removed, has a simple, attractive elegance that makes all the claw-like/vise-grip phone and tablet car mounts look gross and obtrusive

He likes that he can sometimes stick his phone to metal objects (like cabinets or doors) for handsfree convenience while working.

I have also found the magnet handy in my office as I can keep the phone upright on various metal objects around my office, which is an unexpected benefit

Well the 3m strip wasn’t strong enough and it fell off the first day I had it

I Love the mount but had to remove it because all my credit card magnetic strips were destroyed.

but......do not place your hotel keys, credit cards, or any other important magnetic strip near the magnet

I have a clean dash board and for some reason the sticky stuff gives out and the phone and magnetic ball fall to my feet.... after a few weeks

Will be keeping the smaller magnet and getting some more sticky stuff to use for my phone.

Love it, just switching it between cases wears out the sticky stuff on the back, but we find extras pads of those at home depot.

I replaced the sticky stuff ( it came with replacement) and tried again

Eventually I put some thin steel sheeting inside her wallet to protect the cards (was paper thin), and no more problems

Works great but beware of the magnet ... don't put a credit card next to it (I ruined a card by placing it in my pocket with the phone; keep cards and phone in different pockets).

The strong magnets in the Steelie mount on the back of the phone will erase your credit/debit cards if they come close to the magnet.

It's great at holding the phone, but putting a magnet directly on the phone WILL destroy your credit cards AND will prevent NFC functionality.

The clip, it has no ridges to hold onto the air vent so it falls out.2

So since then I bought the one that clips onto your air vent and that one works well.

I was previously using a type that hooked into the air vent.

I drove the car on bumpy roads, the phone did not fall or shifted

Unless you are driving on a absolutely smooth road (hard to find those) the phone will be facing the floor board every time you hit a bump

I commute over 100 miles/day, over some pretty torn up roads, and my phone (Samsung Galaxy S6) does not shift at all

It doesn't fall off the ball, but within a minute or less of driving on a regular smooth road, the phone droops down and angles away from where I had it until the bottom of the phone touches the dash and it can't droop any lower

Definitely better that the phone mounts that clip on to your air conditioner vents

I strongly recommend also buying one of their vent clip mounts just

Did this several times, same thing, phone refused to work even scrambled the home screen.

the phone will pivot so that the screen will face the ground, making it hard to see your screen

It doesn't work with the Galaxy Note 5, it distorts the screen so the stylus doesn't work at all.
