Oculus Go Standalone Virtual Reality Headset - 64GB
Edition:64GB
Oculus Go is a whole new way to watch in VR. With crystal clear optics and state-of-the-art 3D graphics, the headset feels more like a personal theater. Just put it on, switch it on, and enjoy the littlest, big screen around. Watch a m...
The controller is very intuitive and a must if you want to interact with the VR environment
But, with less than a month of use, my controller died
They are dragging their feet regarding the replacement of the defective controller
Heavy, controller is not that intuitive, and it doesn't have the same axes of movement as other headsets.
Now, rather than say "Sorry, let us send you a new controller" they, through a series of slow responses over two days, began demanding photos of serial numbers, photos of the battery in the controller, a VIDEO of me trying to pair the controller, a photo of the box (that was thrown away on day 1).After taking multiple photos and a video for them and still not getting them to agree to replace the defective controller I came back to Amazon, where it is being replaced with no hassle at all.
It is very responsive and has great screen resolution and clarity, in fact, better than it is reasonable to expect at this price point
The resolution on the device is better than the oculus rift, and many games and apps on it
Now the rub; the resolution is touted at around UHD (~2400x1440
The resolution is actually better than the big boy headsets, to the point where watching Netflix is equivalent to watching it on a giant LCD screen (not 4K
Yes, the resolution could be better, and so could the field of view.
so while there may not be as many experience options as the RIFT, I have had no trouble buying and playing the games in just one bundle so far, and there are so many experiences available, I likely will never play or watch them all.
The Go is not as robust an experience as the Rift, but almost, and you don't need a high-end computer, cables, and sensors to operate it
I started playing some games as well, and am really enjoying the VR experience.
What an amazing experience took a few days for my eye to get use to VR
I also enjoyed Viso Places quite a lot though the experience was tempered by the inability to interact
There are free downloadable apps to access video and music content as well as games, and (unsurprising as this is a facebook device,) social media.
Another amazing thing is that if you don’t like a game, you can return the game
The VR worlds, 3D surround videos, "Wander" (ability to go most anywhere in the world and see it in 360 degree view), educational potential for children, virtual reality social worlds (Vtime, Altspace, Oculus Rooms, Oculus Venues, etc.), even invite friends from Facebook to join you in a room to watch movies, play games, hang out and have fun...
For that matter there is a myriad of free games if that is what you seek
The games and apps available are the same basic games and apps available on the Play Store
While I think the adults have had more fun with this, it definitely gives everyone a great VR experience for the price.
I received my Oculus Go 64GB yesterday and I have to say, as an Oculus Rift owner and huge VR/AR enthusiast, I'm very pleased with what Oculus has pulled off here.
even wearing it, then I think that’s what makes a great VR headset
I would recommend this VR headset over both of those based on usability.
It provides a reasonably good VR experience without breaking the bank
The weight is good but for me the way it pulls into your face can get uncomfortable after 45+ minutes and the material is also relatively 'rough' on your face
You have no efficient way of recording or streaming your experience
I recommend the 64 GB, and see the whole world inn wonderful unusual way.
The way they pump the sound into your ears is really clever.
Oculus would not honor a replacement as they said i took the device out of the US.
The sound quality from the built-in headsets is very good
Other than that extra #, the setup and operation is easy and good quality.
For the price I think the quality and resolution are appropriate.
Minor issues include:Other people have issues with their being no SD card slot, low battery life, or mediocre audio quality
I could use a bluetooth audio transmitter with a 3.5mm headphone jack, but it would ideally need to be mounted onto the headset, and can’t guarantee the audio quality it would transmit
Eagerly waiting for the next version with better resolution (but this one's resolution is GOOD!) and better battery life.
The two biggest flaws are terrible battery life and very limited/disappointing apps
The battery is just barely enough to do so but you can plug it in while using it - keep in mind the power cord included is very short so get a longer one if you plan on longer sessions
This is a piece of junk (because of battery life and overheating).
The big downside is battery life, these need a better battery!
Battery life at around slightly over 90 minutes really limits your experience, the lack of 6DOF (the ability to lean in and out) limits the immersion experience and the app library leaves much to be desired
The minimalist design actually works in the users favor as its unobtrusive, light, and with wonderful clarity
The real fail is the lack of an external camera/s to allow quick real world interactions without removing the headset
Oculus would not honor a replacement as they said i took the device out of the US.
My only complaints are the short battery life (about two hours) and the lack of a “deep” search when looking for experiences.
